FGCU hosts No. 56 North Florida, South Alabama to wrap up regular season

Eagles face undefeated Ospreys on Friday, Jaguars on Sunday

FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU will host a nationally-ranked and undefeated North Florida squad on Friday morning at the FGCU Tennis Complex in hopes of providing the Ospreys their first blemish before hosting a motivated South Alabama squad on Sunday morning.

Both matches will begin at 10 a.m. on their respective days and will be held at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

Friday's match will mark the fourth ranked opponent the Eagles will face this season, the most a FGCU team has faced in a single season.

FGCU (14-5, 0-1 ASUN) has won four of its last five matches and is coming off the program's first win over an Ivy League team in a 4-2 victory over Brown on Mar. 25. That stretch also includes a 4-3 win over then No. 75 East Tennessee State, which registered as the program's first win over a ranked opponent.

No. 56 North Florida (19-0, 4-0 ASUN) looks to remain perfect on the year as the Ospreys hit the road for the first time since Feb. 28. Most recently, UNF registered a 5-2 decision over Austin Peay on Mar. 29. This will mark the 26th meeting between FGCU and UNF with the Ospreys holding a 21-4 advantage in the all-time series. However, two of those four wins have come in the past five meetings, including a 4-0 win over the Ospreys in the 2024 ASUN Tournament.

South Alabama (10-3) visits Fort Myers looking to reverse their fortunes, having dropped their past three matches. The Jaguars, who have not played at home in their last five matches, continue their travels away from home by facing North Florida on Saturday in Fort Myers before battling the host Eagles. The team is a member of the Sun Belt Conference, a league FGCU faced earlier this year in a 4-1 win over Arkansas State.

South Alabama is not to be underestimated, however, as the Jaguars' 10-3 record has come against a challenging schedule. To date, USA's opponents are 123-74 (.624) this season. That compares to a 174-144 (.547) mark for FGCU's opponents this year, while the undefeated Ospreys opponents have cobbled together a 137-169 (.448) record.
