Swimming & Diving Adds Seven Freshmen to 2023 Signing Class

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University swimming and diving team and head coach Dave Rollins added seven first-year students to the 2023 signing class.
 
Nicolien Corbeau (Portland, Oregon), Jasmine Kroll (Berlin, Germany), Alexis Mishler (Milford, Indiana) Ava Snider (Columbus, Ohio), Grace Ward (Tampa, Florida), Emmakate Zanoli (Lake Orion, Michigan) and Sarah Zoellner (Bowling Green, Kentucky) each put pen to paper to further their athletic and academic careers at The Nest.
 
"We took a deep dive into what the future of our program will look like and committed ourselves to not only continue to bring in first-class people who will continue to grow and develop our team chemistry, but who will help us continue to be competitive in conference while looking ahead to the national stage," Rollins said. "Every one of these young women will serve an essential role as we look to claim our 11th conference championship and reignite our presence nationally."
 
Nicolien Corbeau (Portland, Oregon/Sunset High School)
Corbeau was a four-year varsity student-athlete specializing in breaststroke and individual medley (IM) events, ranking No. 25 overall in the state of Oregon, according to Swimcloud.
 
She was an individual finalist at the Metro 6A-2 District Championships and the OSAA 6A State Championships, touching second with a personal best in the 200 IM and third in the 100 breaststroke in the Metro.
 
Her top 200 IM mark is 2:10.96 and 1:06.12 for the 100 breaststroke.
 
In the classroom, Corbeau earned French National Honors Society distinction and was a four-year All-Star Academic Award winner.
 
Corbeau springs from a family of swimmers. Her father swam collegiately at California, her mother at UCLA, brother Caspar at Texas and brother Angus at SMU. Corbeau's oldest brother, Caspar, also swam professionally for the Netherlands and competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
 
Jasmine Kroll (Berlin, Germany/Sportschule im Olympiapark - Poelchau Oberschule)
Kroll is a German national finalist, a three-time junior national champion in the 50 freestyle and a junior European champion in the 400 free relay.
 
Kroll's top times include a 25.71 mark in the 50 free, 56.68 in the 100 free, 1:59.08 in the 200 free and 4:15.37 in the 400 free - all long-course meter times.
 
Alexis Mishler (Milford, Indiana/Wawasee HS)
Mishler specializes in freestyle and backstroke, posting top times of 22.8 in the 50 free and 50.16 in the 100 free. In backstroke, her personal bests are 25.8 in the 50 and 58.60 in the 100. Mishler earned all-conference and all-American honors, ranking No. 9 overall in Indiana.
 
In March 2022, Mishler captured two silver medals at the Indiana Senior State Championships in the 50 and 100 free events.
 
Mishler returned to the Indiana Senior State Championships this past season, becoming a three-time finalist. Mishler placed fourth in the 50 free, fifth in the 100 free and sixth in the 100 back.
 
In February 2020, Mishler snagged another pair of silver medals at the IHSAA Girls Sectional Championship.
 
Ava Snider (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington HS)
Snider is an all-American and a relay state champion who specializes in the backstroke and IM events. Snider ranks as the 35th-best swimmer in Ohio.
 
Snider competed for Yorba Linda High School for her freshman and sophomore campaigns and Upper Arlington High School for her junior and senior seasons.
 
She holds a top time of 26.80 in the 50 back, 56.86 in the 100 back and 2:02.96 in the 200 back. As a junior, Snider won gold in the 100 backstroke at the Upper Arlington High School Sectionals, posting a time of 57.75. Snider also captured a silver medal in the 200 IM.
 
Before moving to Ohio, she placed third in the California CIF Southern - DIII Section Championships' 100-yard back event.
 
In the classroom, Snider was an honor roll student and a scholar-athlete. Her mother swam collegiately for Bowling Green University.
 
Grace Ward (Tampa, Florida/Sickles HS)
Ward decided to stay in the Sunshine State and take her talents down to the City of Palms. She ranks top 50 across Florida high school swimmers.
 
Ward emerged as a three-time finalist at the 2023 Florida Senior Championships, placing fourth in the 50 and 100 breastroke and sixth in the 200. In November 2022, she finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke at the FHSAA Florida 4A State Championship. 
 
In the classroom, she earned honor roll, National Honors Society and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors.
 
Emmakate Zanoli (Lake Orion, Michigan/Oakland Christian School)
Zanoli ranks as the 13th-best prospect in Michigan, specializing in distance events. Her top marks are 16:54.86 in the 1650 free, 10:05.35 in the 1000 free, 4:55.24 in the 500 free and 4.28.08 in the 400 IM.
 
She placed eighth in the 1500 L Free at the 2021 NCSA Summer Championships, and sixth in the Speedo Sectional 50 breaststroke in Orlando. 
 
In the classroom, Zanoli has earned honor roll, National Honors Society, AP Scholar Award and the President's Education Award distinction.
 
Her father played baseball at the NAIA level at Michigan Christian College, now Rochester University.
 
Sarah Zoellner (Bowling Green, Kentucky/Greenwood HS)
Zoellner is a four-time all-region swimmer, winning state championship gold in 2020 and 2023. As a freshman, she touched first in the 200 IM at the KHSAA Region Two Championships and put together a silver medal performance in the 100 fly.
 
As a senior this past spring, she repeated with another gold in the 200 IM, also winning the 100 fly. In 2022 as a junior, she earned a bronze medal in the 100 fly, tallying her fifth podium at the state championship.
 
Zoellner ranks as the No. 2 overall swimmer in Kentucky, according to Swimcloud. Her top time in the 100 fly is 55.26, and she holds a personal best of 2:05.27 in the 200 IM.
 
In the classroom, she is a National Honors Society Member and a four-time honor roll recipient.
