FORT MYERS, Fla. – The 15th-ranked FGCU baseball team (23-6 overall, 7-2 ASUN) aims to solidify its place atop the conference standings with a three-game road series at Queens (N.C.) starting Thursday morning.
The series has been moved up due to the potential of inclement weather in the Charlotte, N.C., area, with the first and second games to be played as a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m. Thursday. Game 3 is set for 2 p.m. Friday. This weekend is the first time FGCU and Queens have faced each other on the diamond.
The Eagles are currently in a three-way tie atop the ASUN standings, with Stetson and Jacksonville State. Queens enters the series at 6-22 overall and 2-7 in league play. FGCU is coming off an 8-4 road loss at FAU on Tuesday, but won the previous weekend's series against Jacksonville. Queens lost its weekend ASUN series against Central Arkansas last week, but won the series finale 11-4.
FGCU boasts one the most potent offenses in college baseball, ranking among the top five nationally in seven categories: home runs (second, 65), hit by pitch (second, 76), home runs per game (third, 2.24), on-base percentage (third, .449), runs (third, 290), slugging percentage (fourth, .586), and scoring (fourth, 10.0 runs per game).

Six different Eagles are hitting at least .300, with senior infielder
Alejandro Figueredo (
Sucre, Venezuela/West Oaks HS/Seminole State) leading the way at .403. Figueredo is tied with junior infielder
Edrick Felix (
