FORT MYERS, Fla. – The 15th-ranked FGCU baseball team (23-5) begins a four-game road trip Tuesday night across Alligator Alley, taking on Florida Atlantic (18-11) at 6:30 p.m. at FAU Baseball Stadium.

The Eagles won their ninth game in their last 10 outings Sunday, clinching another ASUN Conference series by defeating Jacksonville 15-7 at Swanson Stadium. The Green & Blue are currently tied atop the ASUN standings with Stetson and Jacksonville State – all three sporting 7-2 league records.

FGCU is one of the hottest offenses in college baseball, ranking in the top five nationally in seven categories – home runs (second with 64), hit by pitch (second with 75), home runs per game (third at 2.29), on-base percentage (third at .450), runs (third with 286), slugging percentage (third at .592), and scoring (fourth at 10.2 runs per game).

Junior infielder Edrick Felix (Orlando, Fla./Victory Charter HS/College of Central Florida)  and senior designated hitter Joe Kinker (North Port, Fla. Venice HS) each had multi-homer games against Jacksonville – with Felix ripping his 10th and 11th of the season as part of an eight-RBI effort Saturday, and Kinker belting his ninth and 10th of the season Sunday.

Senior infielder Alejandro Figueredo (Sucre, Venezuela/West Oaks HS/Seminole State) and junior infielder/pitcher Jacob Lojewski (West Palm Beach, Fla./Delray American Heritage HS) each also have 10 home runs. Figueredo leads FGCU with a .400 batting average – one of six every-day Eagles players over .300 – and both Felix and Kinker have each driven in 38 runs.

Redshirt senior outfielder Brian Ellis (Oviedo, Fla./Hagerty HS) reached base in all three games against Jacksonville, extending his school-record streak of reaching bases safely to 97 games. The unofficial NCAA record for consecutive games reaching base is 101, held by former Texas standout Mark Payton.

FAU has won two straight and four of its last six, including the final two games of a three-game C-USA weekend home series against Rice.

Owls infielder Nolan Schnauel is hitting a team-high .458 – which ranks sixth nationally – with 10 home runs and 34 RBIs. Schnauel has also stolen nine bases, and is slugging .885.

FGCU sends freshman left-hander Chase Kriebel (Shippenville, Pa./Clarion Area HS) to the mound Tuesday, and FAU counters with right-hander Danny Trehey.

Tuesday marks the first of four games FGCU will play against FAU this season. The Eagles are 15-13 against the Owls all-time, and are 7-7 against their cross-state foes at FAU Baseball Stadium. FGCU won the most recent previous matchup, a 7-2 victory May 10, 2022, at Swanson Stadium.

FGCU remains on the road for a three-game ASUN series beginning Thursday at Queens (N.C.). The Eagles return to Swanson Stadium on April 11 for another matchup against FAU.
