TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –
Bramwell Havi ran the fifth-best 8K time in program history and led the Florida Gulf Coast University men's team to a 13th-place finish in the highly competitive Crimson Classic hosted by the University of Alabama.
Havi stopped the clock in a personal best time of 24:45.5, shaving off 10 seconds from his 24:55.9 showing at the FSU Invite two weeks ago. He was the first Eagle to cross the line in 36th place.
"Leading the charge was Havi, who dug deep and crossed the line and ran a season-best time," interim head coach
Alvaro Rivadeneira said. "We had some improvements with
Hudson Jessep, Mathew Speruta, and
Evan Crane"
Jessep stopped the clock at 25:43.9 and took 102nd place, joining
Franklin Caceres, who finished 123rd and produced a 26:02.1 showing.
Karley Piers led the women's team and placed 76th with a 21:38.0 showing and defeated runners from the University of Kentucky, Clemson University, the University of Georgia, the University of Miami, and Florida State University.
"Four women finished strong," Rivadeneira said. "We are looking to improve team performances over the next two weeks and have a strong finish to our regular season in Nashville."
