FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU men's soccer will head to the state of Georgia for two matches this weekend. First up, the Eagles with battle Sun Belt Conference (SBC) member Georgia Southern on Friday night (7PM, ESPN+) at Eagle Field before taking on Mercer on Sunday afternoon (3PM).

FGCU will enter the match against Georgia Southern at 1-0-1 overall while GSU is 0-3-0. The Eagles were tied 1-1 against UCF on last Friday before inclement weather ruled the match a no contest. On August 28 FGCU defeated Northwestern 1-0 with the game-winning goal coming from senior Davi Alves (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) in the 23rd minute.

Alves leads the Eagles' offense with his one goal on the young season. Wyatt Kistner's (Midlothian, Va.) shutout against Northwestern was his second thus far after a 0-0 tie at South Florida for the Eagles in the season opener. Those performances against the Wildcats and Bulls earned him ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week.

GSU enters the match following a 5-0 defeat against #12 Charlotte on Sunday after dropping a 5-3 decision at UNC Asheville the previous week. Both Zachary Martin and Samuel Odame have scored one goal for the season. Dagoberto Romero is the keeper of record with a 2.78 goals-against-average and a 0.583 save percentage.

FGCU leads the series against Georgia Southern 2-0 and last met on Sep. 8, 2019 where the Green and Blue came away with a 5-1 victory.

For Sunday's match, this will mark the 11th time FGCU and Mercer have met on the pitch. The Bears took a 2-0 decision last year on Sep. 21 in Fort Myers. Overall FGCU leads the series 7-2-1 over Mercer.

Mercer (2-0-2, SoCon) is coming off a 3-2 win over Virginia Tech on Monday after drawing 1-1 with North Carolina State last Friday. They will take on South Florida, Friday evening before their match-up with the Eagles.

Dylan Gaither, Kadeem Agard, and Fernanado Arteaga all have one goal for the season. Trevor McMullen is the keeper of record having played four games with a 1.50 goals-against-average and a 0.0647 save percentage.
