FGCU Announces Full 2022-23 Men’s Basketball Schedule

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The 2022-23 schedule for the FGCU men's basketball team has been officially announced with the season set to begin on Nov. 7 at Southern California.

The Eagles will host 13 home games in Alico Arena, while also taking part in Gulf Coast Showcase hosted in Hertz Arena during the Thanksgiving week. Season tickets and mini-plans for the 2022-23 campaign are now on sale and can be purchased by calling 866-FGCU-TIX, visiting www.FGCUTickets.com, or at the Alico Arena Ticket Office on Monday-Friday.

The Pat Chambers era will feature a marquee match-up against Southern California and former FGCU head coach Andy Enfield who orchestrated the Eagles' nationally-captivating run to the 2013 NCAA Sweet Sixteen to put the Green and Blue on the map as Dunk City. FGCU will stay on the West Coast with a match up at San Diego on Nov. 9 before returning home.

"We have a good mix in our non-conference schedule for some really challenging games along with a number of traditional rivalry match-ups," said Chambers. "This will help prepare us for the ASUN schedule. I know our players are looking forward to the start of the season and I can't wait to be playing in front of such a great fan base as what we have at FGCU."

Fans will get their first look at the Eagles on Nov. 13 for the home opener against Ave Maria. Following that, FGCU will head to Rocky Top to take on Tennessee on Nov. 16. Both Tennessee and USC made the NCAA Tournament last year as did Jacksonville State which earned the ASUN automatic qualifier.

The Gulf Coast Showcase will open on Nov. 21 against Northern Kentucky. The tournament field also includes Drexel, East Carolina, Indiana State, Kansas City, UT Arlington, and Toledo. Each of the three days will feature four games each at Hertz Arena.

The balance of the non-conference schedule will feature a number of traditional rivals. FGCU will make trips to Georgia Southern (11/3), FAU (12/7), and St. Bonaventure.

Home match-ups against FIU (12/4), Mercer (12/10), and Canisius (12/21) will round out the non-conference slate.

The conference schedule will open on New Year's Eve with an afternoon tip against Jacksonville from Alico Arena. The Eagles will play home-and-home series against Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Jacksonville, North Florida, and Stetson. Additionally, FGCU will face the remaining members of the league in single games as the ASUN format features an 18-game schedule.

The 2023 ASUN Championship will have a 10-team format with the top seeds hosting each round. The first round will begin Monday, Feb. 27 with the championship final set for Sunday, March 5.

All home games will continue to be streamed live on ESPN+ as will road ASUN games. Other road games will be streamed based on the home team's conference affiliated partner.

FGCU is coming off a 22-12 record during the 2021-22 campaign which included a 10-6 mark in ASUN play. The Eagles played in The Basketball Classic during the postseason picking up a win over Detroit Mercy before falling at Coastal Carolina.
