Beach Volleyball Sweeps Day Two of College of Charleston Beach Classic

Eagles finish weekend 4-0 after wins over Charleston and Eastern Kentucky.

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Thanks to a 3-2 win over the College of Charleston and a 5-0 victory over Eastern Kentucky, the FGCU beach volleyball team finished the College of Charleston Beach Classic with a perfect 4-0 weekend to run its win streak to seven straight.

"It was a battle all day and College of Charleston made us earn every point of every match. The cold weather was definitely a challenge, so I'm glad to come away with four wins on the weekend," said head coach Chris Sweat. "Our 1's pair of Maddie and Kacie are really coming together as a team and are playing great."

The Eagles opened the day with a tight battle against the Cougars that saw FGCU pick up wins in the first, second and fifth flights to take the victory.

In the afternoon, the Green and Blue swept the Colonels with the first, third and fifth flights winning in two sets each.

On Saturday, FGCU earned a 3-2 win over Coastal Carolina followed by a 3-0 win over Jacksonville as the match was called due to darkness.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Eagles as they head to the FIU Invitational on Wednesday for a trio of matches against FIU, North Florida and Southern California. The week will then conclude with a trip to the Stetson Challenge on Friday and Saturday, March 18-19, with two matches each day.
