FORT MYERS, Fla. - FGCU Softball and head coach David Deiros add five to the 2023 signing class as part of the national signing day period.
The Eagles signed three from the state of Florida and landed one from Georgia and Colorado. Camryn Feast, Annalyn Duncan and Sopie Wylie are Sunshine State natives, while Allison Sparkman is from the Peach State and Marina Tinari is from the Centennial State. All five signees will be eligible to suit up for the Green and Blue starting in the fall of 2023.
Camryn Feast
Fort Myers, Fla.
Bishop Verot HS
OF
Feast, a 5-foot-5 outfielder from Fort Myers chose the hometown team. She competed for Bishop Verot High School and is ranked as a Top 100 prospect by Extra Inning Softball, coming in tied at No. 83 overall.
As a versatile outfielder known for taking away hits, Feast is a menace on the base paths as well. Not only did she lead her squad in stolen bases and in runs scored, she led in total hits (37). Feast held a .487 average up at the plate en route to First Team High School All-American and First Team All-State distinctions.
The two-time all-american also earned Impact Player of the Year (2021) and the Offensive Player of the Year (2021) honors. In fact, Feast led her Academy of the Holy Names squad (Tampa, Fla.) to a 3A State title in 2021. In the classroom, she has garnered principal honors and intends to major in Biology at FGCU.
Feast's father played DI football at Southern University.
Annalyn Duncan
University HS
DeBary, Fla.

Duncan is a 5-foot-7 infielder from BeBary, Florida. At University High School, Duncan earned All-Area Team honors in both 2021 and 2022. According to MaxPreps, she ranks as the No. 21 prospect in the state of Florida.
In 28 games last season, she batted .326 up at the dish with 28 hits and an .426 on-base percentage. Duncan also tallied 28 RBIs and produced 22 runs propelling her squad to a playoff appearance.
During her sophomore year, she led her team to an undefeated regular season, going 22-0 to highlight her high school career thus far. In the classroom, Duncan has been a scholar-athlete all four years and plans to major in environmental studies at FGCU.
Sophie Wylie
Miami Palmetto HS
Miami, Fla.

Wylie is a 5-foot-8 middle infielder from Miami, Florida, who competed for Palmetto High School. According to MaxPreps, she is ranked as the No. 72 overall prospect in the state.
In 29 games a season ago, Wylie boasted a .526 average with 50 total hits. She produced 37 runs and belted 18 RBIs to propel Palmetto to a playoff appearance. In the field, she holds a .929 fielding percentage with only six errors.
During her junior year, she led her squad to a regional finals win over Western to go to advance to the state tournament.
Wylie's mother played lacrosse at UC Santa Barbara and her father played baseball at Jacksonville University. Her father went on to pitch in the minor leagues for the Angels.
Allison Sparkman
Sequoyah, HS
Canton, Ga.

Sparkman is a 5-foot-6, right-handed pitcher from Canton, Georgia, who attends Sequoyah High School. As a senior, she dominated in the circle, boasting a 0.845 ERA. Sparkman also held opposing hitters to a combined average of .182.
As freshman and facing the defending state champions that run-ruled her squad a season prior, Sparkman secured a 2-1 victory over an opponent who had SEC, ACC, PAC-12 and Big Ten commits.
In all, Sparkman is a two-time all-county and all-region recipient, including earning the Most Outstanding Pitcher award. In the classroom, she intends to major in sports medicine at FGCU.
Her father played baseball at Middle Tennessee State before suffering Tommy John and then transferred to Bethel College. The Division I family pipeline continued with Sparkman's uncle having played football at the University of Kentucky.
Marina Tinari
Douglas County HS
Castle Rock, Colo.

Tinari the second quality arm heading to the City of Palms. Tinari is a 5-foot-5 left handed pitcher with 26 wins to her resume. As a senior, she made 17 appearances in the circle, posted a 10-2 record and held a 1.49 ERA. In 103.1 innings pitched, she fanned 166 batters and kept opposing hitters to just a .181 average. According to MaxPreps, Tinari ranks as the third best prospect in the state of Colorado, leading her squad to a 5A state runner-up finish in 2022.
She made waves up at the plate as well by boasting a .553 average, collecting 52 hits and 45 RBIs all as a senior. Tinari also held a .600 on-base percentage, a .797 slugging percentage and a 1.398 OPS.
Tinari earned second team all-conference honors in 2019 and in 2021, but garnered first team and all-state recognition in 2022. She was also named the Douglas County High School Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 and was a Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports All-State participant. In the classroom, Tinari is a three-time scholar athlete.
Both her father and her sister were collegiate athletes as her father played baseball at the California University of Pennsylvania, while her sister competed for Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. Marina'a older sister, Tiana, is the reason why she became a pitcher as Tiana was her first catcher and pitching coach. Marina attributes a lot of her habits and demeanor to her sister.

COACH DEIROS
The founding father of FGCU softball, David Deiros completed his 20th season as head coach during the 2022 campaign. Hired in 2001 to build the program from the dirt up, Deiros has since guided the Eagles to a 706-397-3 (.640), going 176-109 (.618) in the ASUN, having 16 seasons with a winning record, and nine campaigns with 35+ wins. Deiros is a former head coach at the 1998 Florida State Runner-up Lely High School in Naples and is the founding head coach of the 1999 District Champion/2001 Regional Runner-up Gulf Coast High School in Naples.

FGCU teams have combined to win an incredible 92 conference regular season and tournament titles in just 15 seasons at the Division I level. Additionally, in just 11 seasons of D-I postseason eligibility, the Eagles have had a combined 45 teams or individuals compete in NCAA championships. In 2022, the men's golf team became the first program to earn at at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Eight FGCU programs have earned a top-25 national ranking in their respective sport - including women's basketball (No. 20, 2021-22), beach volleyball (No. 20, 2022) and both men's soccer (2018, 2019) and women's soccer (2018) as four of the most recent. In 2016-17, the Green and Blue posted a department-best sixth-place finish in the DI-AAA Learfield Directors' Cup and top-100 showing nationally, ahead of several Power-5 and FBS institutions. In 2018-19, the Eagles had an ASUN and state of Florida best seven teams earn the NCAA's Public Recognition Award for their Academic Progress Rate in their sport. FGCU also collectively earned a record 3.50 GPA in the classroom in the fall 2020 semester and has outperformed the general University undergraduate population for 26 consecutive semesters. The past five semesters (Fall 2019 – Spring 2022) saw another milestone reached as all 15 programs achieved a 3.0-or-higher cumulative team GPA. The Eagles also served an all-time high 7,200 volunteer hours in 2017 - being recognized as one of two runners-up for the inaugural NACDA Community Service Award presented by the Fiesta Bowl.
