FORT MYERS, FL – The FGCU softball team (18-7) welcomes in-state foe FAU Tuesday night for a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. at the FGCU Softball Complex.

After playing its first 15 games at home, FGCU comes back to the friendly confines for games 26 and 27. The Eagles are coming off a 5-1 week, falling only to No. 7 Florida, 3-1, last Wednesday night. During the six-game stretch,
Haley Morrell (Tampa, FL/Academy of Holy Names) batted .737 with 11 RBI, three doubles and one home run.
All said the Green and Blue scored 68 runs, batted .419, mashing 11 home runs including five against Quinnipiac – second most in program history.

Marissa Mesiemore (Bushnell, FL/South Sumter HS) and
Sarah Lawton (Waterbury, CT/FSW/Holy Cross) combined to go 4-1, tossing at least 14 innings apiece.
2020 Game Tickets
Single game tickets are good for all games occurring on a single day and are $7 for adults, $5 for youth (ages 3-15), and $5 for current or former US military service members.

The Spring Frequent Flyer Pass allows multiple entries into Softball and Baseball during the 2020 regular season. Passes are available for 15, 30, and 60 entries for any regular season home game. They can be used in any combination until the pass is exhausted. Passes cost $60 for 15 entries, $105 for 30 entries, and $180 for 60 entries. FAU
The Owls come into the Nest with a 7-13 record after going 1-2 this past weekend in its conference series opener against Charlotte on the road. Three batters are hitting over .300 led by Kaitlyn Burke as she's driven in a team-best 15 runners.
Five different pitchers have seen action this season, posting a collective 3.81 ERA. Kara Lokeinsky is 3-1 in 11 appearances (one start), while Lynn Gardner has nine starts.
FGCU trails the all-time series 5-8 – the last four games have been split.

FGCU commences ASUN play hosting Kennesaw State for a three-game series Saturday-Sunday. The doubleheader Saturday is slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch.

COACH DEIROS
The founding father of FGCU softball, David Deiros is in his 18th season as head coach. Hired in 2001 to build the program from the dirt up, Deiros has since guided the Eagles to a 660-344-3 (.657), going 147-90 (.620) in the ASUN, having 13 seasons with a winning record, and nine campaigns with 35 wins. Deiros is a former head coach at the 1998 Florida State Runner-up Lely High School in Naples and is the founding head coach of the 1999 District Champion/2001 Regional Runner-up Gulf Coast High School in Naples.
ABOUT FGCU
FGCU teams have combined to win an incredible 81 conference regular season and tournament titles in just 12-plus seasons at the Division I level. Additionally, in just eight-plus seasons of D-I postseason eligibility, the Eagles have had a combined 36 teams or individuals compete in NCAA championships. Seven FGCU programs have earned a top-25 national ranking in their respective sport – including women's basketball (2019-20) and both men's soccer (2018, 2019) and women's soccer (2018) as three of the most recent. In 2016-17, the Green and Blue posted a department-best sixth-place finish in the DI-AAA Learfield Directors' Cup and top-100 showing nationally, ahead of several Power-5 and FBS institutions. In 2018-19, the Eagles had an ASUN and state of Florida best seven teams earn the NCAA's Public Recognition Award for their Academic Progress Rate in their sport. FGCU also collectively earned a record 3.35 GPA in the classroom in the spring 2018 semester and has outperformed the general University undergraduate population for twenty-one consecutive semesters. The 2019 Fall semester saw another milestone reached as all 15 programs achieved a 3.0-or-higher team GPA. The Eagles also served an all-time high 7,200 volunteer hours in 2017 – being recognized as one of two runners-up for the inaugural NACDA Community Service Award presented by the Fiesta Bowl.
