NJIT Notes
NJIT will enter Tuesday's contest having lost six straight since an 80-67 win over Lipscomb on Jan. 15. The fourth loss in that stretch came in a 67-35 defeat to FGCU on Jan. 29.

The Highlanders are coming off a 70-47 loss to Kennesaw State on Saturday. Tatianna Torres led NJIT with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Danielle Tunstall had 13 points.

Kelly Guarino, who leads NJIT in scoring at 13.4 PPG, is her program's all-time leader in 3-point field goals made with 241, which is also eighth in ASUN history. She needs four more to move past Hollie Davis in seventh and could move into the top five by the time her career is over.

FGCU is 10-0 all-time against NJIT dating back to March 6, 2008, which was a non-league matchup. The series went on hiatus after that and resumed in the 2015-16 season when the Highlanders joined the ASUN. The two teams have met twice in the postseason with the Eagles winning in 2016 (60-31) and 2018 (83-62).

Better Off Single
FGCU has held opponents to single-digit quarters 13 times in conference play, including a nine-point second quarter against Liberty on Saturday.

Dynamic Duo
Nasrin Ulel (355) and Keri Jewett-Giles (283) are on pace to score 492 and 394 points, respectively, this season, which would put both among the top 20 single-seasons in program history. In fact, Ulel's potential total would rank her seventh in program history - just behind Whitney Knight's 504 points from 2014-15, and it would check in fourth-best in the Division-I era. Furthermore, Ulel's 15.4 PPG is currently the fourth-best single season average overall and second-best in the Division-I era.

Alico Arena Tidbits
Nasrin Ulel ranks seventh in Alico Arena history with 209 3-point field goals attempted in her career. Should she maintain her current 16.3 PPG season average at home, she would become one of just four players in program history to attain a 16 PPG or higher average throughout a single season at home. Her average over 11 games at home this year is fourth-best all-time.

Tytionia Adderly's 425 rebounds is just 39 shy of passing Sarah Hansen (463 (2010-14) for the most in Alico Arena history. In the team's win over North Alabama last Tuesday, she passed Hansen (174, 2010-14) for the arena's offensive rebounding record with 176. She also needs 12 more points to reach 300 in home games.

The trio of Adderly (14 vs North Alabama, Feb. 5, 2019), Ulel (11 vs Jacksonville, Feb. 2, 2019) and Davion Wingate (11 vs Johnson and Wales, Dec. 14, 2018) have produced three of Alico Arena's 14 best single games in field goals made this year alone.

Leading The Way
FGCU's starting five of Keri Jewett-Giles, Lisa Zderadicka, Destiny Washington, Nasrin Ulel and Tytionia Adderly - who have started all 10 conference games so far - has produced 57.3, or 75.2 percent, of FGCU's 76.2 PPG in conference play. They've also tallied 23.6 of the team's 34.6 rebounds per contest, or 68.2 percent.

Best in Program History
Tytionia Adderly, who was ranked as the best rebounder in program history by head coach Karl Smesko in a recent post-game interview, moved up to second in program history for career rebounds with her 16 against North Alabama last Tuesday. She now has 749 and trails only Sarah Hansen (887, 2010-14).

Adderly is the top-ranked player in the program's Division-I era in rebounds per game (8.3), defensive rebounds per game (4.9) and offensive rebounds per game (3.4). Her 8.3 rebounds per game this year ranks as the second-best in the same era, and she's on pace to have the top three single season averages entering her senior year in 2019-20. Furthermore, she's on pace for her third top-five single season in offensive rebounds.

Ain't She Grand?
With her 15 points against Liberty on Saturday, Lisa Zderadicka reached the 1,000-point mark for her NCAA career and sits at 1,001. She'll be honored pre-game on Tuesday for her accomplishment.

Four others are also approaching 1,000, led by Destiny Washington, who has 973. Nasrin Ulel (796), Keri Jewett-Giles (785) and Davion Wingate (777) round out the group.

Washington Does It All
Among the group of players approaching 1,000 points, Destiny Washington will join the 1,000 point, 600 rebound, 100 block, 100 steal, 100 assist club in her NCAA career once she reaches the milestone. Her 19 3-point field goals this season is eight more than she had her entire career prior.

Furthermore, once she joins the aforementioned club, she'll become just the second player, along with Whitney Knight, to reach those numbers in points, rebounds, blocks, steals and assists while wearing the Green and Blue. Knight achieved 1,574 points, 735 rebounds, 333 blocks, 206 steals and 245 assists, while Washington has 973 points, 642 rebounds, 124 blocks, 119 steals and 106 assists.

Mid-Major Power
Over the past four seasons, FGCU has recorded 121 wins, which is the most among all mid-majors and seventh-most among any Division-I program, trailing only UConn (148), Notre Dame (137), Baylor (135), South Carolina (129), Mississippi State (126) and Maryland (123). On top of that, the program is one of only six in Division-I with three 30-win seasons during that stretch – joining UConn, Baylor, Notre Dame, Maryland and South Carolina.

Leading the 3-Point Revolution
At FGCU, head coach Karl Smesko has turned FGCU into one of the premier 3-point shooting teams in the nation. This season alone, NCAA Division-I teams have recorded 17 games with at least 18 3-point field goals made, and the Eagles own four of them - the only school among the group with that many.

In 2017-18, the Green and Blue made an NCAA Division-I single season record 431 3-pointers on 1,190 attempts, equating out to a .362 percentage. In doing so, the team made and attempted over twice as many as they did in the program's initial season in 2002-03 (212-for-535). Since that first year, FGCU has made at least 300 in a season 10 times, including each of the past nine seasons.

In 16 + seasons, Smesko's teams have shot a combined 5,107-for-14,730 (.347) from long range, or 9.39 per game. Earlier this season, Kerstie Phills (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Christian HS) made the program's 5,000th 3-point field goal. In fact, the team has made at least one 3-point field goal in 432 straight games and went without at least one make in only one game in program history – Feb. 21, 2006 vs Lynn University (0-for-11).

COACH SMESKO
FGCU head coach Karl Smesko led the 2017-18 Eagles to another historic season. The Green and Blue finished 31-5 overall and 13-1 in ASUN play, capturing the program's eighth ASUN regular season championship and fifth ASUN tournament championship. The team finished the season ranked 25th in the final USA Today Coaches Poll, recaptured the NCAA record for most 3-point field goals made in a season with 431 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in seven seasons, where the Eagles knocked off 5th-seeded and No. 15 ranked Missouri in the opening round. It was the team's second tournament win over the past three appearances. Over the course of the season, FGCU knocked off three ranked teams - No. 15 Missouri, No. 20 Kentucky and No. 21 DePaul.

Over the past four seasons, Smesko has guided FGCU to three 30 plus win seasons while recording a 121-23 (.840) record overall. The now eight-time ASUN Coach of the Year rallied the 2016-17 team to its seventh straight 25-win campaign, culminating in an ASUN tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance. In 2015-16, he was named the espnW mid-major coach of the year following a run that witnessed the Eagles claim a WNIT runner-up finish and a Division-I program best ever 33-6 record. In 2014-15, the team achieved its first-ever top-25 ranking and made another trip to the NCAA Tournament, where the Eagles earned a No. 7 seed and won the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament game, toppling No. 10 seed Oklahoma State.

Including the 2017-18 campaign, Smesko has guided the Eagles to 14-straight 20-win seasons and eight-straight 25-win seasons. He maintains a record of 515-118 (.814) overall in his career, including a 180-16 (.918) mark in ASUN play. Over the past seven + seasons, he has guided FGCU to a 118-4 (.967) record in conference play with four undefeated seasons. Smesko earned his 400th career coaching win in 2014-15 in just 493 career games, two games faster than UConn's Geno Auriemma. Entering 2018-19, he ranked among an elite list of just four active Division I coaches with a career win percentage of .800 or higher, joining Auriemma, Baylor's Kim Mulkey and Stanford's Tara VanDerveer in the esteemed group. Over the past year, first-year NCAA Division-I head coaches Nancy Fahey (Illinois) and Bart Brooks (Belmont) pushed the list to six.
