Former @FGCU_WTEN Standout Breana Stampfli Wins BMobile National Open Championship

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO – After capping off one of the most decorated careers in FGCU women's tennis history, former Eagles standout Breana Stampfli returned to her home country of Trinidad & Tobago and was crowned the BMobile National Open Champion at the National Racquet Centre, Tacarigua last weekend.

The No. 3 seed in the singles draw, Stampfli (Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago/St. Joseph's Convent) defeated three-time defending champion Carlista Mohammed in straight sets to claim the women's title. She cruised to a 6-2 win in the opening set before officially dethroning her opponent as the best in Trinidad & Tobago with a 6-3 win in the second frame.

"It was nice to be back home playing in front of my family and friends, especially the ones who have always been there for me," Stampfli said of her championship.

Stampfli earned a first-round bye before advancing to the quarterfinals by walk-over in her second-round matchup. She then blanked the sixth-seeded Victoria Koylass and made her way to the championship match with a 6-2, 6-1 win against top-seeded Shenella Mohammed, who hadn't dropped a game in the championship until that point.

Following her National Open Championship, Stampfli intends to continue playing internationally and earn on spot on her country's Federation Cup team.
