FORT MYERS, Fla. – Rolling on eight-straight wins, the FGCU women's basketball team will finally begin the home portion of its conference schedule when the Eagles welcome NJIT and USC Upstate to southwest Florida. The Green and Blue, who are undefeated in conference play this season, will face the Highlanders as part of a double header with the men's team on Saturday, Jan. 21 before squaring off with the Spartans on Monday, Jan. 23.

THE GREEN AND BLUE
With a 3-0 ASUN record, FGCU and Jacksonville are the only teams who remain undefeated in conference play.
 
The Eagles earned their eighth-straight win at Kennesaw State on Monday with a stellar performance from Tytionia Adderly (Jupiter, Fla./Cardinal Newman) in which the true freshman posted FGCU's first double- double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
 
For the third time this season, Rosemarie Julien (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast HS/Chipola College) was tabbed ASUN Newcomer of the Week after leading the team with 17 points in the Eagles' 90-63 victory over Lipscomb last Saturday. She also knotched a team-high 13 points against the Owls on Monday. Julien now has 10 double-figure scores on the season including her record-setting 36-point game against Stetson.
 
FGCU has a strong history of success in league play with an 84-1 ASUN record over the last five seasons.
 
SCOUTING NJIT
> NJIT welcomed back three key starters from last season, including point guard and ASUN Preseason All-Conference selection Alana Dudley. Dudley led the team in assists (90) last year and looks to run the offense again in 2016-17.
 
> Since joining the ASUN in 2015-16, NJIT has yet to win a conference road game.
 
> NJIT put together a late rally, but dropped a 76-56 result on Monday at the hands of Jacksonville, which is undefeated in conference play.
 
> Named the head coach of the NJIT women's basketball program in July of 2012, Steve Lanpher led the team to its first conference championship when the Highlanders captured the Great West Conference Tournament title on March 16, 2013 in Chicago.
 
KEY PLAYERS          
1 Alana Dudley - Dudley paces the Highlanders with 11.5 points per game. The senior guard has recorded at least one assist in all 18 games and has notched double-digit scoring in the last four games for NJIT. Her 246 career assists ranks third, 35 shy Ivana Seric's 275 assists, who sits in second place.
 
13 Kelly Guarino - Guarino leads the team from beyond the arc with 29 three-pointers on the season.
 
22 Tatianna Torres - Torres is averaging 16.6 points per game in the last seven games. She leads the ASUN in steals with 43. Over the last three games, she has recorded at least five steals, with a high of six at USC Upstate.
 
SERIES HISTORY
FGCU is undefeated against NJIT with a 4-0 all-time record.
 
The teams' last meeting took place on Mar. 4, 2016 at Alico Arena. FGCU downed NJIT 60-31 in the ASUN Tournament Quarterfinals.
 
SCOUTING USC UPSTATE
> Like FGCU, USC Upstate lost a large portion of its 2015-16 starting lineup to graduation and returns just two players who saw significant minutes last season.
 
> USC Upstate leads the conference with 10.8 steals per game and is forcing the most turnovers with 20.7 per game.
 
> USC Upstate attempts more field goals than any other team in the ASUN. They currently average 62.4 per game, 57.7 per game in conference play. Raven Jefferson is putting up 12.7 per game individually.
 
> Monday's game marks the first conference road game for the Spartans, as they started ASUN play with three-straight home games.
 
KEY PLAYERS
0 Brittney Delva - Delva scored a season-high 17 points against Jacksonville last weekend. She's averaging 12.7 points per game in conference play, which ranks 11th in the ASUN entering this weekend's action. 
 
13 Raven Jefferson - Jefferson ranks among the top-five in ASUN scoring and steals this season. She is fourth in the league averaging 13.7 points per game, while she ranks second with 41 total steals.
 
14 Vanessa Agrusa - Agrusa has been one of the players to step up this season for USC Upstate. She is averaging 7.6 PPG and a team-high 5.2 RPG after only limited minutes of action during her freshman year last season.
 
SERIES HISTORY
FGCU holds a 15-2 advantage all-time over USC Upstate and has won the last 10 straight.
 
The teams' last meeting took place on Feb. 15, 2016 in Spartanburg, SC. The Eagles' 56-44 win secured the #1 position in the ASUN postseason for FGCU.
 
ASUN SUCCESS
The Eagles joined the ASUN for the 2007-08 season and immediately saw success among the conference ranks. The team has won six-straight regular-season championships with a record of 99-4 over that span. The Eagles have won seven total regular-season championships and have never finished lower than second in the final conference standings. FGCU holds a record of 148-13 all-time in conference games and maintains an 83-2 record in A-Sun games played at Alico Arena. Since earning postseason eligibility during the 2011-12 season, the Eagles have won three of four A-Sun Tournament Championships.
 
ASUN LEADERS
This season the Eagles are leading the ASUN in scoring defense (57.8 pg), assists (15.1 pg), FG made (516), three-pointers made (196), three-pointers per game (9.8) and turnover margin (6.10).
 
STREAKING
The Eagles have now won 40-straight regular season ASUN contests, with their last loss taking place on Feb. 1, 2014 against Northern Kentucky. FGCU is just four wins away from tying its all-time record of 44 consecutive conference victories. The Eagles' streak stands as the second-longest active regular season conference win streak in the NCAA behind UConn, which has won 59-straight.
 
HOME SWEET HOME
FGCU is a perfect 9-0 at home so far this season. The Eagles have won 75-straight conference home games in the regular season - the longest active win streak in the nation.
 
PROTECTING THE NEST
Alico Arena stands as the second-toughest place to play in all of NCAA Division I women's basketball. The first: UConn's Gampel Pavilion.
 
The Eagles hold a record of 142-11 at home since making the jump to Division I in 2007-08 and have won 78 out of 80 ASUN games with the home crowd behind them.
 
RECAPPING KENNESAW STATE
Thanks to an outstanding second half performance, the FGCU women's basketball team (14-6, 3-0 ASUN) garnered its eighth-straight win with a 75-56 victory over KSU (2-15, 1-2 ASUN).
 
After ending the first half knotted up with the Owls at 30, FGCU went on an impressive 22-7 run in the third quarter to secure the win. The second half of games have been particularly productive for the Eagles in conference play this season, as they've averaged 37.7 points in the first half compared to 45.3 in the second. 
 
Adderly gave her best performance as an Eagle thus far, posting FGCU's first double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Adderly also added three assists and two steals in the contest.
 
Julien, who was named ASUN Newcomer of the Week today for the third time, tied with Haley Laughter (Asheville, N.C./Carolina Day School) for a team-leading 13 points. The winner of four ASUN weekly awards this season, Julien contributed defensively with a career-high six boards and two steals.
 
Erica Nelson (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee Summit North HS/Johnson County CC) also reached double-figure points with 11 on the afternoon, while Taylor Gradinjan (Cudahy, Wis./Cudahy HS) contributed 9 points by draining three triples.
 
SMESKO
Head coach Karl Smesko earned his sixth-consecutive ASUN Coach of the Year award with a successful 2015-16 campaign and was named the espnW Mid-Major Coach of the Year. Under his direction, the team has compiled two-straight 30-win seasons with four perfect ASUN regular-season slates in the last five years. The team earned its first top-25 ranking and a third NCAA Tournament appearance as a seven seed in 2014-15 where FGCU won its first ever DI NCAA Tournament game against No. 10 Oklahoma State. With 30 wins and counting this year, Smesko has guided the Eagles to 12-straight 20 win seasons.  He maintains a record of 393-79 at FGCU for a win percentage of 83.2 with a mark of 148-13 (91.9 W%) in ASUN contests and has led the team to an 84-1 (98.8) record in conference play in the last five seasons.  The six-time ASUN Coach of the Year earned his 400th career win in 2014-15 in just 493 career games, two games faster than UConn's Geno Auriemma, and holds a career record of 454-106 (81.1 W%).  Smesko ranks among an elite list of just four active Division I coaches with a career win percentage of .800 or higher, joining Auriemma, Baylor's Kim Mulkey and Stanford's Tara VanDerveer in the esteemed group.
