KENNESAW, Ga. – In what could be the biggest weekend of the season for the FGCU women's soccer team, the Eagles take to the road to face the top two teams in the ASUN Conference standings. First up for the Green and Blue is a meeting with the third-place Kennesaw State Owls (7-5-1, 2-1-0) Friday afternoon. The weekend concludes Sunday with a rematch of last season's ASUN Tournament Championship as FGCU faces current league-leaders Lipscomb (9-3-1, 3-0-0).
FGCU enters the weekend level with Kennesaw State in terms of points (both with six points) but FGCU does have a game in hand due to the postponement of the Stetson match. Lipscomb meanwhile is perfect through three matches, with nine points.
Both matches will be broadcast live on ASUN.tv. In addition both schools will have live stats available through their respective websites.
LAST TIME OUT
FGCU opened ASUN play with a 4-0 victory over USC Upstate and a 1-0 triumph over NJIT two days later.
Tabby Tindell (Ocala, Fla./Trinity Catholic HS) and
Emilie Olsen (Frekhaug, Norway/Tertnes VGS) led the FGCU offense with eight points and four points, respectively. Against the Spartans, Tindell assisted on Olsen's first goal before scoring twice herself. Tindell also provided the assist on Olsen's second of the evening to give the Eagles a 4-0 win.
Melissa Weck (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) also made three saves for her sixth shutout of the year.
Weck would pick up clean sheet number seven on the year Sunday against the Highlanders, but FGCU would have to wait until late in the match to secure victory. In the 89th minute,
Meaghan Mulligan (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck High School/Tennessee) delivered a ball to the far post after FGCU earned a corner.
Jamie Finn (Dublin, Ireland/St. Finians Community College) won the ball in the air and headed it back across goal where Tindell tapped in the winner. The goal was Tindell's 62nd career goal, the most in ASUN history.
WHERE THEY STAND
Winners of five-straight, the Eagles are finding a rhythm and climbing the national statistics rankings. As a team, FGCU is 22nd in shutout percentage (0.583), 44th in goals against average (0.745), and 55th in assists per game (1.75).
Individually, Weck is ninth nationally in shutouts (7) and 51st in goals against average (0.761). With an eight-point weekend, Tindell is third in game winning goals (5), 10th in goals per game (0.83), seventh in points per game (2.17), sixth in total goals (10), and fourth in total points (26).
ASUN SUPREMACY
What FGCU has done during conference play places the Eagles among some of the more historic runs in NCAA history. Since 2010, FGCU has climbed to the top of the regular season standings, bringing a streak of six-straight conference titles into 2016, unofficially the fourth-longest streak in NCAA history and the longest such active streak in Division I.
Perhaps even more impressive is FGCU's form over recent seasons. The Eagles are 26-0-1 in the last 27 regular season home conference matches, the third longest active streak in NCAA. FGCU has not lost a regular season home match in ASUN play since 2009. Boston (36) and West Virginia (32) currently hold longer streaks.
Coinciding with FGCU's impressive home record is its overall record. Heading into the 2016 season, FGCU is unbeaten in 28-straight matches against conference foes in all competitions, the longest active streak in NCAA Division I. FGCU's last loss to any conference foe came Oct. 5, 2012, a 2-0 defeat at UNF.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Kennesaw State leads all ASUN programs with 27 goals this season. Led by a trio of goal scorers with five goals each, the Owls boast seven players with multiple goals this season. Headlined by Kim Fincher, who leads the team with 15 points, KSU has outscored opponents 27-17 on the year, including a 19-5 advantage in the opening 45 minutes.
In goal, Mady Carter has earned the last two starts for KSU, posting a 0.98 goals against average for a 2-0 record.
FGCU leads the all-time series 7-1-2 with the only loss coming in 2007, the first-ever meeting between the two teams. In FGCU's second ASUN match, the Owls prevailed 3-0, but since that time the Green and Blue have had the upper hand. The Eagles have allowed three goals in the last nine contests, for a 7-0-2 mark.
SCOUTING THE LADY BISONS
In a rematch of the 2015 ASUN Championship match, FGCU and Lipscomb meet for what could potentially be the match to decide the regular season champion. The Lady Bisons have wins over two SEC foes this season, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, to bolster their resume. Olivia Doak headlines the Lipscomb attack with six goals and two assists on the campaign. Meanwhile Maycie McKay adds two goals and four assists.
The 2015 ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year, Anna Buhigas, has allowed 15 goals this season for a 1.15 goals against average. The Lady Bisons have yet to post a clean sheet in a conference match.
FGCU is a perfect 8-0-2 against Lipscomb all-time with draws coming in 2008 and 2013. Last year, the Green and Blue defeated Lipscomb twice, a 2-1 victory in Nashville and a 5-0 win in the ASUN Championship in Fort Myers.
#TINDELLTRACKER
Tindell has officially secured her spot atop two ASUN career categories during the 2016 season. Against USC Upstate, a pair of goals and two addition assists made Tindell the most productive player ever in ASUN history. Two days later, Tindell's match-winner was also a record-breaker as the Ocala native became the most prolific goal scorer in ASUN history.
The senior forward has 10 goals and six assists already in 2016 and is now tied with 2013 graduate Ashley Ciesielczyk for FGCU's assists record of 28.

COACH JIM BLANKENSHIP
A veteran of over two decades in collegiate coaching, head coach
Jim Blankenship, who was named the ASUN Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, has built FGCU women's soccer into a yearly contender in the ASUN Conference and a rising program in the South Region in just 10 seasons. Blankenship started the program in 2007 and has since guided the Eagles to nine double-digit win seasons, culminating with ASUN Regular Season Championships in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015. In 2011 and 2012 he also led the Eagles to back-to-back ASUN Tournament titles and became the first team in the history of the university to make it to the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles went on to win the 2014 ASUN Tournament and hosted the first NCAA Championship event on campus. The Eagles earned their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance with the 2015 ASUN Tournament Championship and won their first NCAA game at USF in 2015, while finishing 24th in the nation. Blankenship has guided FGCU to a 123-46-19 (70.5 W%) overall record through the first 10 seasons of the program's existence, including a 62-10-10 (81.7 W%) mark in the ASUN. Blankenship's impressive career record of 363-117-30 (74.1 W%) over 25 seasons has come while leading FGCU, the University of Miami, Lynn University and St. Thomas University.
