PROVIDENCE, R.I. – With just one match remaining before Atlantic Sun Conference play begins for the FGCU men's soccer team, the Eagles flock to the Northeast for a Friday night match at Brown. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from College Hill.
Â
OPENING KICKWhile FGCU (1-2-1) still has three non-conference matches remaining after the Brown contest, the game against the Bears will be the Eagles' final tune-up before A-Sun action begins on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at home against Jacksonville. Brown (3-2-0) was ranked No. 21 in the nation last week before suffering a pair of losses on the road at Georgia State, 3-2, and No. 14 Clemson, 3-1.
Â
The Eagles last played on Saturday when they fell at USF, 2-1. Brown opened its season with a 2-0 win at Quinnipiac, a 2-1 overtime victory at Providence at a 1-0 shutout of Holy Cross at home.

IVY LEAGUE TESTSBrown would have been the third Ivy League opponent FGCU had faced this year; however, FGCU's game against Penn on Sept. 12 was canceled due to torrential rain, lightning and high winds. The Eagles' lone win of the year to this point came against another Ivy foe as they defeated Princeton on Sept. 10, 3-2.
Â
WEATHER ISSUESThe scheduled match against Penn was the second game already this month that FGCU did not play due to weather. On Sept. 2 against UCF, an impending second lightning delay with FGCU ahead, 2-0, led to the game being officially declared a "no contest" just seven minutes shy of being official. Because of the cancelations, FGCU's four games so far this year are tied for the fewest in the country with Princeton.
Â
OFFENSE COMING ONAfter being shut out in its first two games this year, FGCU has recorded four goals in its last two contests.
Dylan Sacramento (Winnipeg, Manitoba/York University) struck twice for the Eagles against Princeton before
Preston Kilwien (Pleasant Hill, Calif./College Park HS/Campolindo HS) tallied the game winner against the Tigers. Making his season debut on Saturday at USF,
Albert Ruiz (Barcelona, Spain/UE Cornella/CE L'Hospitalet) converted a penalty kick after missing the first three games recovering from an injury.
Â
LAST YEAR vs. BROWNBrown and FGCU played to a scoreless draw last year at the FGCU Soccer Complex. The Eagles controlled the pace throughout the contest, out-shooting the Bears, 22-11, including an 8-2 edge with shots on target.
Â
SCOUTING BROWNFreshman Jack Hagstrom leads the Ivy League in goals (3) and is tied in points (6), along with Princeton's Thomas Sanner. He was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Sept. 14 after leading Brown to the overtime victory at Providence.
Â
In net, junior Erik Hanson has started four of Brown's five games. He has a goals-against average of 1.72, a save percentage of .632 and has made 12 saves while also securing a shutout. Freshman Teo Norhagen started the Bears' only home game of the year, the shutout of Holy Cross, and he made four stops in that contest.
Â
A tradition-rich program, Brown has made 27 all-time NCAA Championship appearances, with the last coming in 2012.
Â
WHO'S IN NETNathan Ingham (Keswick, Ontario/Keswick HS) remains questionable for Friday's match after suffering a sprained ankle in the early stages of the second half against Princeton two weeks ago. The redshirt senior – who led the A-Sun in goals-against average last season – is again pacing the league this year (0.72), in addition to leading the conference in save percentage (.833). Furthermore, he's one of only three keepers in the league with a shutout so far this year. If Ingham can't play,
Sawyer Jackman (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East HS) would likely again take his place in net as the freshman played well on Saturday against USF, making five saves.
Â
INGHAM CHASING HISTORY – Watch A Feature Video On InghamIngham earned his 20th career shutout to open the season against then-No. 3 Georgetown, setting the FGCU program record and moving him within five of tying and six of breaking the all-time A-Sun mark. Additionally, Ingham – who was named the PDL Championship MVP this summer – is also closing in on the A-Sun record for lowest career goals-against average. A-Sun men's soccer history dates back to 1979.

DID YOU KNOW?The Eagles have an incredible overall record of 32-4-3 in all A-Sun regular-season games since the start of the 2010 season. All four of those conference losses have come on the road, and out of a possible 117 points that could have been earned in that time, the Eagles have claimed an impressive 99 of them.
Â
Additionally, FGCU owns the longest home regular-season conference unbeaten streak in the nation. FGCU has not lost a home regular-season A-Sun game since 2008, a stretch of 26 in a row in which the Eagles are unbeaten (23-0-3). Included in that run is a 19-game winning streak. FGCU's last home regular-season A-Sun loss came to Jacksonville, 2-0, on Oct. 19, 2008.
Â
NEXT UPFGCU will begin a stretch of three-straight A-Sun matches at home on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. when it welcomes Jacksonville to the FGCU Soccer Complex. After getting off a 2-0-1 start to the year, the Dolphins have dropped four games in a row and head into the weekend 2-4-1 overall.
