@FGCU_WSoccer Begins #ASunWSoc Play at UNF, Visits A-10 Champ La Salle

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The FGCU women's soccer team (6-3) begins the defense of its four-consecutive Atlantic Sun titles when it visits North Florida (1-8) on Friday evening before heading north to square off with La Salle (4-3-2) in Philadelphia, Pa. on Sunday afternoon. The matches will be the first of four-in-a-row for the Eagles on the road before they return home for five-straight to conclude the regular season.

LAST TIME OUT
It took sophomore Tabby Tindell just 5:02 to score two goals opposite CSU Bakersfield (1-8-1) on Sunday afternoon to become the FGCU all-time goals leader with 25 in just her 29th game in the Green and Blue. Tindell picked up her fifth game-winning goal, has now scored multiple goals in a game four times this season, becomes the first Atlantic Sun individual to reach double-digit scores and closes her memorable weekend at home with four goals and one assist.

NORTH FLORIDA
FGCU downed the Ospreys 3-0 at the FGCU Soccer Complex last season and hold a 5-1-1 all-time series lead. So far this season UNF has posted a 1-8 record with the lone victory coming in the form of a 2-1 result opposite The Citadel. Kayla Aritt and Kayla Gray each have two goals for UNF on the season. Aritt notched a game-winner at The Citadel. Megan Dorsey, the reigning A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week, has played every minute in goal for UNF, has totaled over 822 minutes this year and is second on the Ospreys career victories list with 14.

LA SALLE
La Salle was 15-5-3 last season and 5-2-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Explorers won their second-consecutive A-10 title on penalty kicks over Dayton, advancing to the NCAA Tournament where they fell to Georgetown, 2-0. It will be FGCU's first meeting with La Salle. The Explorers are 4-3-2 this season with victories over Northeastern, Pittsburgh and James Madison. They fell, 4-1, at No. 21 West Virginia last Friday night and defeated former A-10 foe Temple, 3-2 in overtime, on Sunday. La Salle received votes in the latest NSCAA National poll and is the top team in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll. Kelsey Haycook leads the Explorers with six goals and 15 points.

TABBY
In the wake of her record breaking performance last weekend, sophomore Tabby Tindell was named the A-Sun Player of the Week for the third time this season and for an A-Sun record sixth time in her career as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

With 25 goals and seven assists (57 points) in her career Tindell now ranks in a tie for third on the all-time points list with Amber McCall and behind only Shannen Wacker (64 points) and Lindsay Haw (68 points) after becoming the fourth individual to reach the 50-point plateau with two goals opposite Wofford. She is also tied with Wacker for second-most all-time with nine game-winning goals list with nine – one short of the program record of 10 currently held by Haw.

There has been no sophomore slump for Tindell who put together one of, if not the greatest individual seasons in program history in just her first year suiting up for the Green and Blue. She established single-season program records in points (34), goals (15), goals per game (0.75), shots (71), shots per game (3.55), shots on goal (44) and shots on goal per game (2.20) and is well on her way to challenging those marks again.

Twice this season Tindell has been named the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week which recognizes the top performances of players nationwide. Individuals from national powers, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Arizona State, Wisconsin, Duke, UCLA, Florida, Penn State, Boston College, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Kansas and Georgia are all represented on the list alongside Tindell.
