Red-hot Eagles back home Sunday vs. Jacksonville

First place Eagles put 10 game unbeaten streak on the line

FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles will play their first game of the season from atop the ASUN Conference table on Sunday as they host the Jacksonville Dolphins in a 1 p.m. kick from Pickering Field in Fort Myers. It is Fan Appreciation Day at the field with soccer scarf giveaways as well as special deals at the concession stand all game long.

FGCU enters the contest red hot after knocking off conference rival North Florida on Thursday in a 2-1 contest to take over first place in the ASUN standings. The Eagles are now unbeaten in their last 10 games, including five straight to begin ASUN Conference action. Offensively the Eagles have been second to none in the ASUN this season, leading the league with 23 goals scored, while their 199 shots on the year are 30 more than any other team in the conference. Individually a number of Eagles top the conference charts as well as Keira Morgan notched assists on both FGCU goals Thursday to take over the ASUN lead in that category with six while Sarah Greiner's 32 shots on the year are also best in the conference. With her goal on Thursday against the Ospreys, Kaitlin Gabelman is now tied for the ASUN lead in both goals with six and points with 13 on the year.

After a slow start to the year that saw the Dolphins get shutout in five of their first six games, Jacksonville has gotten things going in the past month, going unbeaten in their last five contests including a 2-0-2 mark in ASUN action. JU has had 11 different goal scorers this season which ranks second to only FGCU in the ASUN. Julia Delprat has been the Dolphins top weapon this season, scoring a team high four goals including one in their season opening win over Miami. One area of concern for JU has been in net where the Dolphin keepers have stopped just 68.8% of the shots on goal they have faced, the lowest mark of any of the ASUN teams this season.

FGCU has played more games against the Dolphins than any other team in program history with 25 games marking their series history. The Eagles hold a 15-3-7 all-time lead in the series including a 10-1-3 mark here in Fort Myers. Last year's 1-1 draw in Jacksonville the last time these two teams met broke a four game stretch in which the Dolphins were unable to find the back of the net against FGCU. That has been the case in a lot of the FGCU/JU matchups as the Eagles haven't allowed the Dolphins to score more than one goal in 24 straight games between the two.

Kick is set for 1 p.m. at Pickering Field in Fort Myers which will serve as Fan Appreciation Day with soccer scarf giveaways as well as special deals at the concession stand all game long.
