FGCU Men's Tennis Falls to No. 72 ETSU, 6-1

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU men's tennis team fell to East Tennessee State 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon. Sergio Rebolledo (Fort Myers, Fla.) picked up the lone singles win for the Eagles, winning 7-6 (4), 6-7 (5), 11-9 at No. 5 singles. The Eagles fall to 3-7 overall, 2-3 in the A-Sun, while the Bucs improve to 6-6, 3-0 in conference play.

The team of Matthew Rock (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Thibaud Aime defeated Juan Ramirez and Grega Teraz, 9-7, at No. 1 doubles. ETSU took the other two doubles matches, claiming the doubles point and a 1-0 lead in the match.

In singles play, the Bucs won five of the six matches in straight sets. Rebolledo was able to earn a well-deserved point for the Blue and Green, outlasting Robin Akser in a three-set match, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (5), 11-9.

The Eagles return to the courts on Saturday (March 13) when they host Troy University. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
