DeLAND, Fla. – The FGCU men's cross country team finished sixth, while the women's team finished in fifth in their final tune-up before the conference championship at the Hatter Invitational on Friday evening.

Embry-Riddle University took home the team title in the All-Men results with 32 points. Miami finished first on in the All-Women 5K results with 50 points. Both races had a total of 14 teams.

Freshman Sanders Payne (Weston, Fla./West Broward) paced the Eagles for the first time this season with a time of 27:30 for a 23rd-place finish. Following shortly behind him was sophomores Joseph Habel (Naples, Fla./Naples) (27:49) and Dillon McGee (Indialantic, Fla./Melbourne) (28:18) finishing in 30th and 35th, respectively.

Freshman Chris Rudloff (Ormond Beach, Fla./Mainland) and senior Dino Bozzone (Auckland, New Zealand/Portland) clocked in at 28:42 to finish in 42nd and 43rd.

On the women's side, sophomore Barrie Cohen (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) once again led the team with a time of 18:39 for a fourth-place finish out of 119 runners. Freshman Kelly Perzanowski (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) finished jus a second behind Cohen in fifth place.

Classmate Caity Hoffman (Garnerville, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) crossed the finish line at 19:50 for a 25th-place finish. Sophomore Leigh Mumford (Clemson, S.C./Bishop Kenny) was back on the course for the first time since the opening meet (Sept. 5) running a 20:27 to finish in 36th. Freshman Gretchen MacMillan (Ocala, Fla./West Port) rounded out the Eagles' runners, finishing in 21:58 in 69th.

FGCU now has two weeks to prepare for the 2010 Atlantic Sun Cross Country Championships held in Spartanburg, S.C. at Milliken Research Park on Saturday, October 30.
