FGCU and Hartwick Play to a 0-0 Double Overtime Tie at the Mayor's Cup

Box Score

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The FGCU men's soccer team (1-1-1) played Hartwick (0-2-1) to a 0-0 tie on Friday, Sept. 5 in the opening match of the 33rd Mayor's Cup held at Hartwick's Elmore Field.

Adam Glick earned the shutout for the Eagles, his second of the year, collecting a pair of saves in the process. Jeremy Vuolo finished with the shutout for Hartwick, grabbing four saves along the way.

The Eagles outshot the Hawks, 10-9, and claimed a slim 4-3 advantage on corner kicks. Hartwick, who was whistled for 13 fouls, tried to use physical play to intimidate the young FGCU team, but the Eagles were never rattled and continued to play solid soccer.

FGCU came close to ending the game at the end regulation when Matt O'Shaughnessy's shot, that came with one second left on the clock, was barely saved by the Hartwick keeper.

FGCU will face Syracuse on Sunday, Sept. 7 in its final match at the Mayor's Cup. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
