Eagles Blank Sharks, 3-0 in Exhibition

Fort Myers, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University Womens Soccer team defeated Nova Southeastern in a 3-0 shutout on Saturday afternoon at the FGCU Soccer Complex.

Junior Amber McCall (Fort Myers, Fla.) sparked the Eagles offense with a goal just six minutes into the second half. Michelle Kuhnen (Eau Claire, Wis) sent a pass from midfield to McCall who was able to score from the top of box to put the Eagles ahead 1-0.

The second Eagle goal came in the 57th minute by sophomore Lindsay Haw (Palm City, Fla). Amber McCall answered 11 minutes later with her second goal of the day, Michelle Kuhnen sent a cross from the left wing that found McCall for a header to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

“We had some good looks early but we were a little impatient,” said head coach Jim Blankenship. “Once we scored in the second half we loosened up and played well,”

The Eagles will begin regular season play on Friday August 22nd at 7:00 pm as they host the Owls from Florida Atlantic at FGCU Soccer Complex.
