Women's Cross Country Takes 5th at Sodexho Stetson Hatter Invitational

DELAND, Fla. – The Eagles wrapped up their regular season with a solid 5th place finish in the Sodexho Stetson Hatter Invitational.  Megan Thies led the way with a 20:17 (12th), while Christine Baird took 29th with a time of 21:25.  Stacy Banbury came in 34th (22:04) & Marie Scarpantonio crossed the line two seconds later (22:06) in 35th.  Ashley Williams rounded out the scoring runners for FGCU with a 40th place time of 22:34.

Fellow A-Sun member Jacksonville won the team competition placing runners in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 19th.  Stetson, the host institution, took 4th place, just two points ahead of the Eagles.  JU's Elisabeth Goshu won the individual title with a time of 18:55.

The Eagles will have next weekend off before heading to Macon, Georgia for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships, which will be held on November 1st.  The women's race is scheduled for 9:00 AM.
