FORT MYERS, Fla. - Julija Grubisic Cabo was named to the Atlantic Sun Conference's Preseason All-ASUN Team as Florida Gulf Coast University was picked to finish first in the 2026 ASUN Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll, the conference announced.

"We're honored that our peers around the league see the work this program has put in," said Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen. "A preseason ranking is just a snapshot of where people think we'll be, not where we actually are, that part is earned every day in the gym. I'm really proud of Julija for this recognition. She's put in the work to become one of the most complete players in our league, and she's earned the respect of the coaches around the conference."

The senior outside hitter is coming off a 2025 campaign in which she earned First Team All-ASUN honors, highlighted by a string of standout performances that included three career-high kill outings during ASUN play. She led the Eagles in several statistical categories throughout the season helping FGCU claim the ASUN regular season title.

Grubisic Cabo joins a Preseason All-ASUN Team that features eight players after a tie in voting, alongside Payton Parsons (Bellarmine), Claire Mrukowski and Haley Yount (Jacksonville), Kendall Newbold (North Florida), Elizabeth Layson (Queens), and Zuzanna Bury and Vitoria Stedile (Stetson). Yount was also tabbed Preseason Player of the Year and Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, while North Florida's Sofia Dawson was named Preseason Setter of the Year.

FGCU earned six of the eight first-place votes in the preseason coaches poll, finishing atop the standings with 62 points. Jacksonville, which picked up a first-place vote, followed in second with 54 points. Lipscomb (46), North Florida (39), Queens, which also received a first-place vote (38), Stetson (19), Bellarmine (16) and West Florida (14) rounded out the poll.

FGCU opens the 2026 season Friday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m. ET against VCU at Alico Arena as part of the FGCU Invitational.
