GOTHENBURG, Sweden - Erica Muhizi has been named to the Swedish National Team roster ahead of the European Volleyball Championship, stepping in for middle blocker Gun Hindgren, who will miss the tournament due to a back injury.

Sweden opens Group D play against Montenegro on Friday, August 21 at 1 p.m. ET, with all matches held at Scandinavium in Gothenburg. The hosts will also face Slovakia, reigning world and Olympic champion Italy, Croatia and France in group play.

"It is of course very big to get this opportunity, even if the circumstances are sad with Gun's injury," Muhizi said. "I feel for her, she is one of my best friends in the national team, so I will play both for her and for the team. At the same time, I am very happy and proud to join the team and represent Sweden in a home European Championship. I will do everything I can to contribute with energy, hard work and be ready when the team needs me."

Muhizi will rejoin the Eagles' squad once Sweden's run in the European Championship concludes.

FGCU will open the 2026 season at home on Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. against VCU.
