FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University women's basketball head coach
Raina Harmon announced the signing of
Graca Barbosa from Gulf Coast State College as the Eagles continue to build their roster for the 2026-27 season.
"Graca Barbosa adds depth to our backcourt," said Harmon. "She is a capable scorer who can stretch the floor from three and create offense in a variety of ways. Graca also brings a high basketball IQ that allows her to make smart reads and fit seamlessly within our system."
Barbosa is among the newest additions to the program through the transfer portal, joining
Denika Lightbourne and
Lily Zeinstra, with freshmen Elle McCulloch and Ari Turla also set to arrive as part of the incoming recruiting class. Returning to the fold for FGCU are
Cerina Rolle,
Karina Gordon,
Sinai Douglas,
Jalei Pillow,
Shameir Quimby,
Airah Lavy, and
Eve Alexander.
A guard who prepped at Colégio Campos Salles under coach Leandro Leal, Barbosa has spent two seasons at the junior college level, first at Crowder College before transferring to Gulf Coast State College, where she developed into a reliable offensive playmaker capable of creating in multiple ways.
In her sophomore season at Gulf Coast State College (2025-26), Barbosa appeared in all 30 games with 30 starts, averaging 8.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 35.9 percent from the field, 28.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line. She reached double figures 11 times and posted a season-high 25 points against Gillette College on March 25. She also erupted for 24 points and a season-best seven three-pointers against Elgin Community College on December 13, dished out a season-high nine assists against Community Christian College Georgia, and grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds against Chipola College on March 14.
As a freshman at Crowder College (2024-25), Barbosa appeared in 27 games with 27 starts, averaging 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 39.1 percent from the field, 30.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 81.5 percent from the free-throw line. She reached double figures 17 times and scored a season-high 24 points against Cottey College JV on November 5. She also posted 22 points and eight assists against Connors State College on November 23 and dished out a season-high nine assists while grabbing a season-high 15 rebounds against North Arkansas College on February 8.
Barbosa cited the program's intense and competitive style of play, fast pace, strong teamwork, and focus on defense as the driving factors in her decision to choose FGCU.
