FGCU women earn No. 3 seed as ASUN Women’s Tennis Championship bracket is set

Eagles to host tournament, set to face Stetson in Quarterfinals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast women's tennis earned the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Stetson as the Eagles host the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships next week.

Seedings for the tournament were announced Thursday afternoon by the conference office and were determined by a committee that evaluated rankings and performance. The ASUN did not play a conference schedule this season.

FGCU (14-7) will face No. 6 seed Stetson (13-5) in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, April 16 at Noon. By virtue of being seeded in the top six of the nine-team field, FGCU gets a first-round bye.

Florida Gulf Coast's women's program is 13-13 all-time in the ASUN Tournament with a 5-3 (.625) record when hosting tournament action. The Green & Blue have advanced to the championship on six different occasions – in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2024. This year marks the fourth time FGCU has hosted the full championship.

The Eagles and Stetson are quite familiar with each other in ASUN Tournament play as the Eagles have faced the Hatters more times than any other team. To date, Florida Gulf Coast is 4-4 all-time against Stetson in conference tournament play, with a 1-1 mark when hosting the tournament. They last met in 2024, which was also the last time FGCU hosted the championship event, and the then top-seeded Hatters came away with a 4-1 win over the then-No. 6 seed FGCU.

Thursday's match-up will be the 28th meeting all-time between the two programs. While Stetson leads the all-time series, 15-12, and has won five straight in the series, the Eagles hold a 6-5 advantage when facing the Hatters at home.

The winner of the FGCU-Stetson match will advance to Friday's semifinals, set for 5 p.m. They will face the winner of the No. 2 seed Lipscomb (11-6) versus No. 7 seed Eastern Kentucky (10-12) quarterfinal match, which will be contested alongside FGCU's quarterfinal match as the FGCU Tennis Complex has 12 championship courts, allowing the ASUN Tennis Championship to hold two matches simultaneously.

All nine ASUN institutions that field a women's tennis program will compete at the 2026 championship. Other teams participating, along with their seeds and season records (as of Wednesday afternoon) are as follows: No. 1 North Florida (21-), No. 4 Austin Peay (11-4), No. 5 North Alabama (14-5), No. 8 Bellarmine (8-18) and No. 9 Queens (0-14).

Action begins with the first round on Tuesday, Apr. 14 as No. 8 Bellarmine faces No. 9 Queens at 9 a.m.
