FORT MYERS, Fla. – Grace Taylor was named the ASUN Pitcher of the Week, earning the first weekly conference honor under head coach
Lindsay Fico, the conference announced Monday.
Taylor won all three games for FGCU in the circle against the Royals, scattering six hits over 13 innings of work and allowing just one run. She tallied five strikeouts in the series. The senior ace now has a 2.40 ERA and a 6-3 record in ASUN play. In the midweek game at USF, she gave up one run in 1.2 innings of relief.Â
"I have full trust in my defense behind me," Taylor said after the senior day win. "I'm not a big strikeout pitcher, so I get to produce a lot of ground balls. So just being able to trust my teammates behind me, (Gibson), Sophie (Wylie), the rest of the infield, they've been huge this year."
Next, FGCU will head on the road for the final series of the regular season at Stetson, beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 1.
