FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast softball (5-16) dropped the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader 7-0 against Troy (14-6).
The Eagles were two-hit by the Trojans, who scored two runs in the first and five runs in the fourth en route to the win.
A two-run double for Dailynn Motes in the first inning put Troy on top. The two squads traded zeroes in the second and third before the Trojans added a five-spot in the fourth. Two walks, a single and a pair of doubles, along with three stolen bases, helped produce the five runs.
Mackenzie Leiti and
Ally Thompson had FGCU's only hits in the game.
