Eagles Even Par Through 36 Holes at Michael A. Marino Classic

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf team completed the second round of the Michael A. Marino Classic on Sunday at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club, sitting tied for seventh place in the 16-team field at even par through 36 holes.

Florida Gulf Coast is led by Nolan Harper, who sits tied for fourth at 7-under after rounds of 66 and 71 and has recorded a team-high 11 birdies through two rounds. Sacha Ruiz is tied for 31st at 1-over, while Sebastian Gamboa sits tied for 39th at 2-over after an even-par second round. Christian Figueredo follows in a tie for 58th at 5-over, and Brett Moore rounds out the Eagles' lineup tied for 70th at 7-over. Competing as an individual, Brody Stevenson is tied for 49th at 4-over through 36 holes.

How It Happened
Nolan Harper led the way for the Eagles through two rounds, sitting tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard at 7-under par. The sophomore carded rounds of 66 and 71 to put himself firmly in contention heading into the final round, highlighted by a strong closing stretch that included birdies on holes 10, 15, and 16 during the second round. Harper has been one of the tournament's most aggressive scorers, recording a team-high 11 birdies over the first two rounds.

Sacha Ruiz is tied for 31st at 1-over par following rounds of 72 and 73. Opening the round on hole 10, Ruiz recorded a birdie to start the day, as well as another one on hole 16. He has tallied six birdies through the opening 36 holes.

Sebastian Gamboa sits tied for 39th at 2-over par after rounds of 74 and 72. The junior played a steady second round that included birdies on holes five, six, 13, and 16 to help him post a 1-under 35 on the back nine. Gamboa has recorded eight birdies through two rounds.

Christian Figueredo sits tied for 58th at 5-over par after rounds of 77 and 72. Figueredo's round featured four birdies, which came on holes four, five, nine, and 12 as he finished the day at even par.

Brett Moore rounds out the Eagles' lineup and is tied for 70th at 7-over par after posting rounds of 76 and 75. Moore bounced back on the back nine of the second round with a birdie on the par-five 13th and played the closing stretch at 1-under to finish with a 35 coming in.

Competing as an individual, Brody Stevenson is tied for 49th at 4-over par following rounds of 75 and 73. Stevenson recorded birdies on holes six and 16 during the second round as part of a steady effort across the opening two days.

As a team, the Eagles have produced 34 birdies and 107 pars through the first two rounds, helping them remain in the middle of a tightly packed leaderboard. FGCU sits alongside Baylor at even par, trailing the tournament leaders Liberty and NC State who are tied atop the standings at 12-under par.
