Softball opens ASUN play at Queens

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast softball (6-17) will open Atlantic Sun conference play on Saturday in Charlotte against Queens (6-13). The three game series begins with a Saturday doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. before a noon contest on Sunday.

The last time out, FGCU dropped its first series of the season to Troy. The Eagles split Saturday's doubleheader with the Sun Belt's Trojans before falling 5-4 in a game that was decided in the final inning on Sunday.

FGCU is led at the plate by Olivia Black, who is hitting .377 with 10 RBI and 10 runs scored. She has stolen eight bases on the season, is six away from the FGCU Division I-era record, and is eight away from 100 career steals. Mackenzie Leiti is slugging .579 with five doubles, three homers and 12 RBI for the Eagles. In the circle, Grace Taylor has a 5.22 ERA over a team-high 53.2 innings pitched. Victoria Ash carries a 4.16 ERA and a team-low 10 walks, while Julia Bacoulis has a team-best 39 strikeouts.

Sage Farmer is one of six Royals to start all 19 games in 2026. She is hitting .484 with 30 hits and a 1.110 OPS. Lindsey Henson has been one of the best power hitters in the ASUN through February and early March, with 11 home runs, seven doubles and 28 RBI to her name. Her 1.578 OPS and 1.125 SLG both lead the Royals. Olivia Thornton also hits above .400; she enters the series with a .404 average and five home runs. Addison Kluck has thrown nearly half of the innings for Queens, with 58.2 on the campaign. She has a 5.13 ERA, six complete games and 52 strikeouts for the Royals.

Henson's 11 home runs and 1.125 SLG are also the best mark in the ASUN, as are Kluck's six complete games and Farmer's .484 average.

FGCU is 2-2 in the limited all-time series against Queens. The Eagles dropped the three-game series in Charlotte in 2025. Black scored four of FGCU's nine runs in Charlotte last year; she went 4-for-11 in the series.
