FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast softball (5-8) was unable to overcome a slow start at the plate and defensive miscues in the ninth game of The Hampton Inn Gulf Coast Classic, falling 7-3 to Buffalo.
FGCU only managed two hits in the first four innings, and committed four errors in the loss. The Eagles tallied six hits throughout the game, led by a 2-for-3 outing from
Tiffany Meek.
Buffalo scored three runs in the first inning on a single and a pair of errors. The Bulls added another run in the fifth to go up 4-0. FGCU started stringing hits together in the fifth, pushing a run across, but Buffalo added three more runs in the top of the sixth.
Julia Bacoulis had her first career RBI with a two-run single in the sixth. The Eagles did not score again, though, and fell 7-3.Â
