DELAND, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles hit the road for one final time during the 2026 regular season on Saturday, making the trip to DeLand to take on the Stetson Hatters with the ASUN regular season championship on the line for the Green and Blue. The formula is simple for the Eagles, win and they clinch their 13
th ASUN regular season crown in program history, anything else and they will need some help from the Jacksonville Dolphins to do so.
The Eagles head to DeLand with everything in front of them. FGCU sits atop the ASUN table with 20 points, one ahead of second-place North Florida with one game left to go. The Eagles dropped their first ASUN contest of the year last time out against UNF, but still sport a 6-1-2 conference mark and 9-2-5 overall record as they head into the regular season finale.
FGCU has been the best offensive team in the ASUN from start to finish this season, netting a league high 30 goals in their 16 games played. But unlike last season when
Erika Zschuppe found the back of the net 21 times for FGCU, this season it has been a group effort with 13 different players scoring and an ASUN high eight players scoring multiple goals on the year.
A win for the Eagles Saturday would give them 10 for the year, marking the 19
th consecutive full season that FGCU has secured double digit victories. The only season in which they did not reach that platform was the Covid shortened 2021 campaign.
Stetson comes into the contest with nothing but pride to play for. The Hatters were eliminated from postseason contention last week, but have still made their impact felt, shocking Jacksonville 3-2 last Sunday to send the Dolphins tumbling down the league table. Goals have been tough to come by for Stetson who is tied for last in the league with just nine tallies on the year. Before Sunday's offensive explosion against Jacksonville, the Hatters had been shutout in six of their previous seven contests. Ava McKay has been a bright spot for the Hatters, scoring four times this season while leading the team in both shots with 16 and shots on goal with 13.
The Eagles have won 11 straight in the series against Stetson and hold a 20-1-1 all-time advantage over the Hatters. In their meeting earlier this season in Fort Myers it was FGCU blanking the Hatters 2-0 thanks to early first half goals from
Kate Friday and
Taylor Latini.
Kick is set for 4 p.m. The match will not be streamed.
