FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Eagles will travel to Miami on Saturday for a dual meet against Florida International at the Doral Aquatic Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
FGCU is coming off a strong performance last weekend, opening the meet with a victory in the 100-yard medley relay and adding wins in both freestyle relays. The Eagles recorded multiple podium sweeps and top finishes across the pool, highlighted by victories from
Jasmin Kroll in the 500 freestyle,
Nori Hetyei in the backstroke events,
Cassie Bauer in the breaststroke and individual medley, and
Nastia Tichy in the butterfly. The diving squad also contributed, as
Alexandra Andueza swept the 1-meter and 3-meter events to round out a well-balanced performance.
The Eagles last faced FIU in October at the FIU Classic, where FGCU finished ahead of the Panthers to claim the overall victory. FGCU set the tone early by breaking one pool record and two meet records while winning 11 events, totaling 504 points to outpace FIU, which finished third with 445 points. The Eagles are seeking their first dual-meet win over FIU since a 154-146 victory in 2018.
FGCU will return to the FGCU Aquatic Center on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. and Jan. 31 at noon to face North Florida in its final meet before the ASUN Championships in Orlando. The Eagles will also honor five seniors prior to the meet as part of the weekend's events.
