FORT MYERS, Fla. -
Sinai Douglas has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday, marking the second time this season the guard has earned the honor.
"Sinai is the kind of player who can carry us in any statistical category on any given night," said Head Coach
Raina Harmon. "Whether it's going 6-6 from 3 or leading us in assists, her ability to score AND facilitate makes her tough to defend and makes others around her better!"
Douglas continued her strong play for the Eagles during the week, highlighted by a pair of conference road victories. In Thursday's win at Austin Peay, she delivered a career performance, drilling a career-high six three-pointers on a perfect 6-for-6 night from beyond the arc. Douglas finished with a career-best 24 points to go along with three rebounds, one assist, and two steals.
She followed that effort with another steady outing on Saturday against Lipscomb, contributing eight points, five assists, three rebounds, and one steal to help the Eagles secure the road win.
Across the two-game stretch, Douglas totaled 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals. She continued to provide consistent scoring, playmaking, and defensive presence, playing a key role in FGCU's pair of conference road wins and earning her second ASUN Newcomer of the Week honor this season.
The Eagles remain on the road, traveling to Carrollton, Georgia, to take on West Georgia on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. as ASUN action continues.
