Swimming & Diving Gears Up for Annual Green vs. Blue Intrasquad Showdown

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University Swimming and Diving will compete at their annual Green and Blue Intrasquad meet on Saturday the 27th at 10 a.m.

The Green vs. Blue Intrasquad Meet is a cherished annual tradition, splitting the FGCU swimming and diving team into green and blue squads to compete for ultimate bragging rights. Leading up to Saturday's main event, the teams battle in a variety of point-earning competitions, including FGCU Trivia, pull-up challenges, and the mock meet known as the Wings Up Classic. During the Wings Up Classic on Friday, swimmers can score points by achieving personal bests or breaking records, and the event also crowns the "Queen of the Pool" through races across all 50s of each stroke and the 100 IM. The week's festivities combine skill, strategy, and team spirit, building excitement as the teams prepare for the showdown in the pool. On Saturday, the Green and Blue Intrasquad is unlike any other meet. There will be numerous unique events including a belly flop competition.

Last year, the Green Team narrowly beat the Blue Team by just 2.3 points, 732.6–730.3, with the meet concluding in a spirited belly flop competition. Beyond the scoring, the event highlighted team creativity and camaraderie, as the Green Team entered to a custom "Let It Go" song with orange-painted faces and hair to mimic head coach Dave Rollinswhile the Blue Team appeared as Stitch from Lilo & Stitch, ending with synchronized dives and relay challenges that had swimmers and divers experiencing each other's events.

The upcoming Swimming and Diving intrasquad provides the team with a valuable opportunity to showcase their skills, earn points toward the overall total, and gain momentum as they head into the next two weeks of meets.

Following the intrasquad, the Eagles will head to Florida International University to take part in the FIU Classic Oct. 3-4.

Admission to all swimming and diving events is free to the public.
