FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU women's soccer team returns to Pickering Field on Thursday night, hosting Grambling State at 7 p.m. in a non-conference match that will also serve as First Responder Appreciation Night.
The FGCU women's soccer team battled hard on the road but came up short in a 2-1 loss to Florida on Thursday night in Gainesville. The Eagles (2-2-1) struck for 11 shots against their SEC opponent and pulled within one on sophomore Kate Friday's first career goal in the 62nd minute, assisted by Lily Borders. Freshman goalkeeper Madara Matrevica recorded four saves in the final 20 minutes to keep FGCU within striking distance, but the Green and Blue couldn't find the equalizer.
For the first time in program history, FGCU is offering fall season tickets for its soccer programs, with packages starting at $60. Fans who purchase season tickets for either the men's or women's soccer teams will receive a season ticket combo for both programs.
