FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University softball will honor
Avery Viancos and
Maria Angelino at Senior Day on April 19 on the third game of the series against Stetson. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the ceremonies starting about 20 minutes prior. The first two games will be part of a doubleheader on Friday starting at 4 p.m.
FGCU leads the all-time series against 31-25 but lost the series in DeLand earlier this year, only winning one game.
The Eagles are four steals away from setting the DI era record for single season stolen bases which was set in 2022 when Team 21 stole 118 bases.
Olivia Black is the team leader with 26 stolen bases so far this year.
Avery Viancos is close behind with 25.
At the plate,
Emily Chiarella paces the team in batting average at .325,
Maria Angelino leads the team in slugging at .431 with
Maddox Thomas topping the on base percentage charts at .410.
In the circle,
Allison Sparkman continues to be the main starter for FGCU. She currently ha a 2.16 ERA and 1.30 WHIP on the year.
The Hatters are led at the plate by Addison Foster, who leads the team in all slash line stats going .382/.464/.573.
Pitching wise, Stetson doesn't have a pitcher with an ERA below three. They have depth with three different pitchers going at least 68.2 innings so far this year.
Following this weekend series, the Green and Blue will wrap up their road ASUN slate against West Georgia who they swept at home earlier this year.
