Florida Gulf Coast University softball dropped the rubber match against Jacksonville University on Sunday, 4-2.
The scoring got going early with both teams scoring one run in each of the first two innings. In the first inning,
Alexis Cowles drove in
Olivia Black to bring her total to an RBI in seven of her last eight games.
The second inning saw a
Nikki Gibson double score
Ana Richiez to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead which the Dolphins would tie in the bottom half of the inning.
The next two innings saw no runners allowed from
Victoria Ash but Jacksonville would hit a two-run home run in the fifth to give them the 4-2 lead and eventual win.
Gibson recorded her second multi-hit game of the weekend, batting .500 on the weekend with two doubles.
The Green and Blue return to Fort Myers to face Stetson. The doubleheader will be played on Friday with senior day on Saturday. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 4 p.m. with Saturday's first pitch slated for 1 p.m. Come out early to take part in the senior day festivities.
