Alexis Cowles extended her RBI streak to six games in the opening game of the doubleheader against Jacksonville as Florida Gulf Coast University would split the doubleheader by scores of 5-4 and 4-1 in Jacksonville, Fla. on Saturday.
The opening game saw the Dolphins (19-19, 6-8 ASUN) get on the board first with a run in the first. The Eagles (22-23, 9-5 ASUN) would answer with five runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Maddox Thomas got the scoring going with her team-leading 25th RBI followed up with
Sophie Wylie recording her 20th RBI to give FGCU the 2-1 lead.
The Eagles would add a necessary three runs in the fifth with a
Camryn Feast single before Cowles would drive in two, extending her RBI streak to six games and giving the Green and Blue a 5-1 lead.
Victoria Ash pitched the complete game in the first game of the doubleheader, earning the win.
The second game featured the Dolphins ace who held FGCU to one run.
Elana Roush got the start in the circle, throwing four innings only allowing two earned runs.
Avery Viancos stole three bases on the day to record her 25th on the season. She is now in a five-way tie for sixth place in a single season for stolen bases by a player in the DI era.
The Green and Blue will return to action on Sunday at 1 p.m. for the final game of the series against Jacksonville.
