FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Eagles will travel north to Jacksonville to play Jacksonville University on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday doubleheader will start at 2 p.m. The Sunday game is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
The Eagles (21-22, 8-4 ASUN) leads the all-time series against Jacksonville (18-18, 5-7 ASUN) 40-11 after sweeping the first series this season in Fort Myers.
The finale of the first series was the first time the typically fleet-of-foot Eagles showed off their power with
Camryn Feast and
Sophie Wylie both hitting a long ball. Staying on brand, FGCU stole nine total bases over the three game series.
Olivia Black, who currently sits at third in FGCU's DI era in career stolen bases with 70, stole five bases against Jacksonville while registering a hit in every game, including a three-hit performance.
Emily Chiarella, who just collected career hit 100, has recorded a hit in eight of her last nine games, leading the team with a .339 batting average.
Maddox Thomas continues to show a keen eye, pacing the team with a .430 on base percentage.
The shortstop position has provided the power in the lineup with
Maria Angelino (.459) and
Sophie Wylie (.453) leading the team in slugging.
The Dolphins are led offensively by Madison Bratek who is second on the team in batting average (.336) while leading the team in on base percentage (.429), slugging percentage (.429) and stolen bases (16).
Following this series, the Green and Blue return home for a series against Stetson. April 19 will be FGCU's senior day.
