Men's Basketball to play in College Basketball Invitational

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University men's basketball has accepted an invitation to play in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) starting on Monday, March 24, at 2 p.m. in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The CBI starts on March 22 and 23 with the First Round games, which FGCU has earned a bye. The Eagles will play the winner of Elon and Army.

FGCU's first game can be seen on FloCollege. If the Eagles advance, the semifinal game will air on ESPNU and the final game can be seen on ESPN2.

Three Atlantic Sun Conference programs join FGCU in the CBI. Jacksonville earned a first-round bye, and Queens is playing in the opening round.

The Eagles have faired well against the Dolphins, owning a 23-12 all-time record against Jacksonville, winning the last seven and 15 of the last 16. In Jacksonville, FGCU fought back from behind for a four-point win before earning a 16-point victory at home.

Against Queens, FGCU has not won away from home, losing all five games at road and neutral sites. In their most recent matchup, an ASUN tournament game hosted in Fort Myers, the Royals ended the Eagles regular season play 71-65.

FGCU won thirteen games in conference play, the most in the Pat Chambers era and the most since the 2012-13 season, the year of the legendary Dunk City run. Eighteen overall wins is the most since 2021-22. The CBI will be the first postseason event the Eagles will take part in since 2021-22 and the first under coach Chambers.

Keeshawn Kellman and Jevin Muniz have both eclipsed 1,000 career points during the 2024-25 campaign. Dallion Johnson is 19 points away and Zavian McLean is 36 points from the career benchmark. Kellman was joined by Johnson on the All-ASUN team. In postseason honors, Kellman was on the ASUN Fiirst Team while Johnson earned the Second Team nod.
