FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University men's basketball looks to build upon its first-place presence in the Atlantic Sun Conference as the Eagles welcome Eastern Kentucky at 7 p.m. Thursday for FGCU Staff Appreciation Day and later travel to North Florida on Saturday.
The Eagles (13-10, 8-2 ASUN) grabbed sole possession of first place over the weekend with an impressive 82-56 win over 2024 ASUN Tournament Champions Stetson.
The Colonels are currently in third place with a 12-11 overall record and a 6-4 ledger in the conference. The Ospreys are 12-11 with a 5-5 league record.
This will be the fifth time FGCU battles EKU, and the Colonels lead the all-time series 3-1. The Eagles' only victory against EKU came on Jan. 27, 2022. The Colonels narrowly defeated the Eagles 81-77 in Richmond on Jan. 25.
Against UNF, FGCU faces the Ospreys for the 40th time, and the Eagles have earned the victory 22 times in the series compared to the Ospreys' 17 wins.
Dallion Johnson continues to lead the Eagles in scoring with 15.0 points per game, and is in first place in the ASUN in 3-point field goals per game.
