Florida Gulf Coast University softball fell at No. 8/No. 9 Florida State on Thursday 10-2 in five innings in Tallahassee, Fla.
Tiffany Meek accounted for every run the Eagles scored when the ball found a place to land down the right field line. The diving outfielder pushed the ball into foul territory, out of the reach of covering defenders. Meek's speed allowed her to reach third easily, driving in
Nikki Gibson in the process. Meek would score on a
Leslie Flaherty single later in the inning.
Victoria Ash started for FGCU and outside of two long balls, pitched magnificently going four innings only allowing one hit and zero earned runs.
The Seminoles threw Hofstra transfer Julia Aspel in the game. Aspel surrendered two earned runs on the day, tying her season high.
The Green and Blue return to action tomorrow for two games against the College of Charleston and Florida State.
