Florida Gulf Coast University softball lost a run-rule game against the No. 3 team in the nation Florida Gators, 8-0 on Wednesday in Gainesville, Fla.

The Gators got off to a fast start, putting up six runs before the fourth out was recorded. Kendall Wylie came on to pitch in relief and pitched 2.1 innings without allowing a hit before a long ball gave Florida two more runs to put the game in run-rule territory.

Ana Richiez got the final two outs for the Eagles with her off speed stuff causing a swinging strikeout on a ball in the dirt well outside.

Emily Chiarella started the game by drawing a four pitch walk. The Gators gathered in the circle and calmed their freshman pitcher who only gave up one hit the rest of the way, an Avery Viancos single that was hit back to the pitcher but Viancos' speed allowed her to get the single.

FGCU travels to Tallahassee tomorrow to face the #9/#8 Florida State Seminoles on Thursday at 6 p.m. as part of the Dugout Club Classic.
