Avery Viancos swiped two bags to score a run in the first inning but Florida Gulf Coast University softball could not muster up any more offense in a 2-1 loss to UCF on Friday in Orlando, Fla.
FGCU ace
Allison Sparkman entered the circle and dazzled. She would pitch the entire game, only allowing one earned run. Sparkman pitched three no-hit innings in the second, fifth and sixth innings.
The top three batters in the order all got a hit, including one from
Maddox Thomas to drive in Viancos and extend her team-leading RBI total to nine.
Tiffany Meek managed to get a single on a ball that was mishandled in the outfield but an aggressive send would see her get thrown out at third.
The final hit of the game came on an
Emily Chiarella hit to the third baseman that she legged out in the seventh inning.
Next up for the Eagles is two games on Saturday against Pitt and Columbia at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
