FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University baseball dropped their Tuesday midweek game against Indiana State 8-5.
After breaking the school record for runs in a game with 36 and setting the NCAA record with 20 runs in the third inning this past weekend, a six-run second inning by the Sycamores looked like a sign for another high-scoring affair.
The Eagles countered with four of their own in the bottom half of the inning before the bats cooled.
Both teams only recorded four hits the rest of the way following the 10-run inning.
Ryland Bozenhard entered in relief and pitched four innings, fanning five.
Nathan Gagnon collected three hits on the day and
Harrison Povey joined him in the multi-hit club.
The Eagles return to Swanson Stadium tomorrow for a rematch against Indiana State. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
