FGCU Closes Nonconference Play Monday Afternoon Against Columbia

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University women's basketball team returns home to Alico Arena on Monday afternoon, hosting Columbia in the final nonconference matchup of the season at 2 p.m.

FGCU enters Monday's contest riding significant momentum after a historic 120-32 victory over Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 22. The Eagles put together a record-setting performance, establishing new program single-game marks for points (120), assists (34), and made field goals (49), while also posting the program's Division I record for largest margin of victory (88).

Eve Alexander led the way with a career-high 24 points on an ultra-efficient 12-of-14 shooting night, adding seven rebounds and three assists. Airah Lavy followed with a career-best 22 points, connecting on five three-pointers while also setting career highs with six assists and four rebounds. Cerina Rolle chipped in a career-high 15 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists, while Jordan Campbell delivered a perfect 6-for-6 shooting performance en route to a career-high 14 points with three rebounds and two assists. Sinai Douglas filled the stat sheet with seven points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals, helping fuel FGCU on both ends of the floor.

The Eagles' strong showing comes amid one of the most challenging schedules in the nation. FGCU currently owns the second-toughest strength of schedule in the NCAA, trailing only Southern, with a 0.6612 SOS and opponents holding a combined 66–25 record. The demanding slate has tested the Eagles early as they continue to build consistency and identity under head coach Raina Harmon.

"This team has submitted to the process of it all," said Head Coach Raina Harmon. "And we knew that this was going to be a tough nonconference and at the end of the day, the outcomes are going to be what it is. Just don't lose your confidence along the way. We're going to get better every single game, and I think they have done exactly that."

Columbia enters the matchup after a hard-fought 70-65 win over UTSA on Dec. 20. The Lions showcased their poise in the victory, leaning on disciplined offense, physical rebounding, and the ability to convert at the free-throw line late. Monday's game will be just the second all-time meeting between the two programs, with Columbia holding a 1-0 edge following a 62-51 win last season in New York.

For FGCU, the emphasis continues to be on consistent improvement and execution. The Eagles will aim to set the tempo early, attack the paint through post touches and drives, and stay disciplined defensively when navigating Columbia's screening actions. Strong ball movement and defensive focus will be essential as FGCU looks to carry its momentum forward.

Following Monday's contest, the Eagles remain at home to open ASUN Conference play on New Year's Day, welcoming North Alabama to Alico Arena for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
