FORT MYERS, Fla. —
Sinai Douglas has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
The Michigan State transfer has made an immediate impact on the Eagles' lineup, especially during FGCU's latest three-game stretch that included a pair of matchups at the Resorts World Classic in Las Vegas. Douglas opened the week with a strong all-around performance at home against Indiana on Nov. 25, posting 12 points, seven rebounds, one assist, and two steals.
She continued her steady play in Las Vegas, recording 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, and one steal in FGCU's 66–62 victory over Stanford. Douglas then delivered one of the most complete performances of her young FGCU career against Troy, finishing just shy of a triple-double with nine points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists.
Across the three-game stretch, Douglas totaled 31 points, 21 rebounds, 14 assists, and three steals while showcasing her ability to impact the game on both ends of the court.
"We're excited to see Sinai being recognized as ASUN Newcomer of the Week," said Head Coach Raina Harmon. "Her ability to make plays for her teammates, while leading us in rebounding, has had an immediate impact on our success and our progress."
The Eagles continue the road stretch of their nonconference schedule, as they travel to Jonesboro, Ark. to face Arkansas State at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
