CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Florida Gulf Coast men's basketball fell to No. 17 Illinois 113-70 on Friday night.
The Eagles were led by JR Konieczy, who scored a career-high 26 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field and 3-for-7 shooting from 3-point range to go with five rebounds and two steals. Freshman guard
Jordan Ellerbee had his first career double-digit game, scoring 12 with four offensive rebounds for the Eagles.
FGCU took care of the basketball well, only committing one turnover on the night. It wasn't enough to overcome a strong shooting night from Illinois, though.
The No. 17 Illini, who led wire-to-wire, scored over 100 points for the second game in a row behind a 31 point outing from Kylan Boswell. Keaton Wagler added 22 and David Mirkovic had 17 for Illinois.
Next, FGCU returns home to take on Georgia Southern at 7 p.m. on Nov. 11.
