FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU women's soccer had five athletes on the 2025 All-ASUN teams, led by unanimous ASUN Player of the Year
Erika Zschuppe.
Lauren Dwyer earned ASUN Defensive Player of the Year honors, and senior forward
Kendal Gargiula capped off the trio on the All-ASUN First Team.
Freshman defender
Ryanne Robinson was named to the Third Team All-ASUN, and she and goalkeeper
Madara Matrevica tallied ASUN All-Freshman Team nods.
The Eagles also had six players on the ASUN All-Academic team. Zschuppe, Dwyer, Gargiula,
Emma Badger,
Elena Hinkson and
Maya Henley Buisan were recognized for their academic accomplishments.
"We couldn't be prouder of our student-athletes for earning this well-deserved recognition from the conference. Their dedication, both on the field and in the classroom, has been remarkable and helped deliver one of the best regular seasons in our program's history," head coach
Jim Blankenship said.
"Erika has firmly established herself as one of the best players in FGCU history — serving as our captain and breaking the program's single-season goal record, an incredible accomplishment for a midfielder. Lauren has been the backbone of our defense for years, and it's been inspiring to see her growth and leadership culminate in this Defensive Player of the Year honor. Kendal continues to embody consistency and excellence — earning her third First Team selection while producing her best offensive season yet. Ryanne and Madara have made an immediate impact, becoming key pillars of our team in no time. Each of them represents the future of this program, and we're excited to see how far they'll go."
Zschuppe, who was also the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the unanimous ASUN Midfielder of the Year, and named to the All-ASUN First Team, dominated throughout her senior season. She began the year with Preseason Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year honors. Nationally, she was named to the Hermann Trophy Preseason and Midseason watch list, and was named the Midseason No. 21 Player in Top 100 National Rankings by TopDrawerSoccer.
Zschuppe led the country through the regular season in goals scored (21), points (44), goals/game (1.27) and shots on goal per game (2.60). She led the ASUN in all four of those categories and in shots per game (4.88) & total shots on goal (41).
Zschuppe's early October stretch vaulted her into the national rankings lead. She scored ten goals in a four game span, with braces against West Georgia, Jacksonville & North Florida, and a four-goal game against North Florida. The flurry earned her numerous weekly accolades, including the Oct. 7 TopDrawer Soccer National Player of the Week, the Oct. 8 College Soccer News Offensive Player of the Week, and three ASUN Player of the Week nods (Oct. 6, Oct. 13, and Oct. 21).
Her four-goal outing against the Ospreys featured a first half hat trick; she was one of just four players nationally to accomplish that feat in the 2025 regular season. Her 1,303 regular season minutes were the most by any FGCU midfielder or forward (fifth overall on the team) despite missing a game.
Zschuppe's 21 goals set a single-season program record. She scored in ten consecutive games from Sept. 11 to Oct. 25, which tied the FGCU record for consecutive games with a goal.
Lauren Dwyer was named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Year following her season anchoring the Eagles' back line, which conceded just five goals in conference play, fewest in the league through the regular season.
The 2025 Preseason Defender of the Year and 2024 First Team All-ASUN honoree, Dwyer led
FGCU with 1,537 minutes played. She started all 18 games for the Eagles and played the full time in seven ASUN games (12 overall). Dwyer spearheaded nine shutouts overall and six in ASUN action.
Dwyer also notched a goal and an assist to cap off her senior campaign, both of which came in ASUN play.
Kendal Gargiula concluded her career by securing her third consecutive First Team All-ASUN award.
The North Fort Myers native had a stellar senior season, starting all 17 games for the Eagles at forward, where she scored ten goals & tallied six assists. Gargiula finished the regular season tied for second in points in ASUN play, behind only her teammate in Zschuppe, and was fourth in the conference in total points over the full season.
Gargiula and Zschuppe's 31 combined goals is the most of any duo nationally.
Her seven goals scored in conference play rank third in the ASUN, and her five assists over that same timeframe are tied for first. Her ten goals are tied for third (full season) in the conference.
Gargiula finished the regular season with a bang, recording a career high seven points (brace & three assists) in FGCU's 6-2 win over Stetson. She scored FGCU's lone goal in the season finale against Bellarmine to close with her first and only double-digit goal season.
Ryanne Robinson earned Third Team All-ASUN and All-ASUN Freshman Team honors after starting all 18 games for FGCU. The Sept. 2 ASUN Defender of the Week, Robinson played 1,471 minutes for the Eagles, second most among field players, trailing only Dwyer. She played the full time in six ASUN games (eleven overall).
Robinson contributed to nine shutouts overall and six in ASUN action. She consistently defended the opponent's best striker for the Eagles and is set to step into Dwyer's shoes as the leader on the back line in 2026. Offensively, she tallied a pair of assists on the season, one of which came in ASUN play.
Madara Matrevica was also tabbed to the All-ASUN Freshman team after a quality year in the net. The goalkeeper started all 18 games for FGCU and was named the Sept. 15 & Oct. 6 ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week.
Matrevica logged 1,386 minutes in goal, posted four solo clean sheets and contributed to five more. She allowed just 15 goals (five in ASUN play) for a 0.97 GAA in the regular season.
Nine of her 15 goals were conceded against SEC teams (LSU, Florida, Auburn).
Matrevica played the full 90 minutes in six ASUN contests and 11 games overall. She finished the regular season with 57 saves and a .792 save percentage overall. Her save percentage jumped to .861 in ASUN play (31 saves).
